We're all so thankful that we have pugslife... I have true friends around the world from it.  I've only met one in person and her pug (NYC), but I hope to eventually meet more.  If you stay, you'll eventually feel the same way.  I hope you do, Sharon!

No Problem Sharon, I know if this had been here for when I had my original two things would not have continued for 10 years. A problem shared is a problem halved. As for Tank's allergies, not all allergies are the same for instance Tin Tin in India, we call them Hektor and him cousins. Well Tin Tin gets more tropical problems than Hektor who as I said is a child of the almost Arctic and has a coat which resembles a Husky. So if we cannot help there is always someone who can. We have a huge Malaysian Contingent who given your area may be of some assistance, they are in the Club bit on the Welcome Page, they are used to Pugs in hot climates which I certainly am not and then there are those in the otter US states.

Sharon for a little dog I have always found they are good, many people here have difficulty with toilet training but they are normally clean wee dogs. Mine have been good except for Angus and his separation anxiety and now it would be easier given my experiences. As you have been a dog owner before just treat Tank as you did the German Shepherd there is no difference with the exception that as I said they are people dogs, but dogs they most definitely are and sleep much of the day. Hektor needs time on his own and as Tank gets older he will too. I have found that they are tough wee cookies who are better when not treated as babies.

Hi Sharon, it is a problem because they are companion dogs and do need people around them, how long will he be left and can you arrange for someone to pop in if it is longer than four hours. Mine were left from 7.30am till 12 ish and then one or other of us went home and they got a little walk and lunch, then they went back to sleep till we came home around 4.45pm. My youngest one of the two had separation anxiety which is the reason I should have considered seeing if my Mum would have taken him, he pee'ed every where and having two boys was not a good thing. The funny thing once Angus ( young one) died, Henry my old boy relaxed and was much happier. Do not think that because Tank has skin issues he is badly bred, mine comes from Best of Breed at Crufts, 95.96. and an excellent US kennel and he has similar skin issues. Dried food in his case, he is now on cooked chicken or raw beef and low sugar veggies like broccoli or cauliflower. I don't think he will every be free but starch, any sort causes what is known as a yeast infection, which means he converts it to sugar and this causes his skin to flare. You cannot put him onn  a similar diet as yet but ask for information of a puppy food which is low in starch. I am going out shortly but I will give you one or two ideas of how to treat his skin which may stop him having to end up on steriods, I have successfully managed to keep Hektor off them now for four years. May I say welcome Sharon and Tank, what a great name for a Pug they are little tanks, run over everything. Hektor and I are delighted to be your friends. I had two previous Pugs before mighty Hektor, I too worked but we managed to get round it, had the oldest one the longest right up till he was nearly fifteen the young one who probably was not as well bred lasted until he was ten and a half. So we must have done okay. Helena

Sophie replied to Danielle's discussion Pugs fainting/passing out, does any one have this problem?
"Update my boy milo still has them and is 10 soon. Raw diet calms the severity and frequency but he had one just now. He spaced out, got dizzy and flopped over onto his side. Went rigid for ten seconds and back to normal"
