So lately all my girls have been driving me crazy by running to the door barking like their tails were on fire and of couurse I have been furious as it is a horrible sound.

Well last night it was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard as they viciously snarled and barked and howled when a man was prowling around the house in the dark just ten minutes before my husband got home! My two pugs (one half blind and toothless) along with their 2 sisters(one mostly deaf and also toothless) scared away a potential burglar as he checked the doors to find an easy way in.

They then took turns getting out of bed and checking each room all night till daylight and the vicious beasts after each check barked to wake me up because the cat was on their steps and heaven forbid they face the cat!

I'll tell you this my girls saved my life and then comforted me till my husband got home! I couldn't be more thankful for my babies!

A very scary experience but the good thing was that your girls knew that he should not have been there and the one thing you can count on with Pugs is that unless you actually know how big that dog is, the bark seldom gives it away. I would never worry about Hektor as he thinks he is a Mastiff anyway. Our old Henry was a big chested dog and sounded so much bigger than he actually was.

This is definitely a very scary experience. Your girls are very brave, but then they are pugs! They are heroes for sure. Who would even know they are toothless and the like. Mine has teeth and can't really bite but scares the heck out of people all the time. Pugs are excellent guard dogs because what you really need is for the person to be scared off and you to be alerted, which your girls did both admirably. pug barking also sounds like a much bigger dog. Even when people see Muffy they get scared by  the look on her face which accompanies the ferocious bark. When my husband is away overnight we don't sleep so well as Muffy has to guard me the whole night and also when we stay in a place she isn't familiar with. I love pugs as they are such brave and courageous little bundles. Just as good as a german shepherd or rottie any day I say!

This is great news, but scarey for you, I'm glad they shooed him off, mine only bark if the cat jumps over the door gate(drives my black pug insane for some reason) or if the trash men pull their truck up to our house on trash day.

Funny thing is ii always tell people don't worry they don't bite but I think if they had gotten to him they would have torn him up! We always play like daddy is attacking or hitting me and I start hollering help and all four chase him down and start nipping at him and barking till I say "thank you girls" so I think somehow they knew this was real. They definitely were in attack mode and the oldest dog who is recall trained came out with us and sniffed his trail a little till I was convinced he was gone.

They may just get to split a hamburger tonight for being such good girls!

Good job girls, you mad mom very proud and happy you were there for her.  Linus and Lizzy are barkers, Lily doesn't hear so she will only bark if she sees something.  I hope I never have to find out if they are good guard dogs as you found out yours are.  WAY TO GO GIRLS

they are guard pugs that's for sure and i'm glad they were at attention for you as my one buggy has scared people mainly my neighbors he takes off with this bark and kicks the back feet and his hair will stand up although he would never hurt anyone he'll even roll on his side as they reach for him.If someone is at my door he'll do the same but, once it's open he stops the others look at him like he's nuts lol, they can sound fierce but, that's about it i'm glad this worked in your favor big hugs to them.
