Since Toko has come, each day Shini has been getting more & more jealous of him. Alot has gone on here in this matter & Shini just will NOT share her things with Toko. So this a.m. Shini goes into her big crate and closes the door behind her so Toko can't come in & then she lays down & takes a peaceful nap! She is just way to smart! She already can hook or unhook the latch with her teeth. We are waiting for the next move from her to be where she locks  him in the cage herself LOL. She torments him NON STOP and he has already shed his winter coat, but lately now he has begun to shed a TREMENDOUS amount!! Could this be from stress? He is constantly trying to get away from her, but in our two bedroom travel trailer there is not far for him to run. It is a nightmare here for sure and Toko is stressed beyond measure!  The only other option is to crate one or the other & we do not like them crated unless we have to leave for a bit we do crate Shini as Lord only knows what she would find to do. Toko on the other hand does fantastic left out while we are gone. Any help here or suggestions would be great!!! We are desperate!! We really wanted a second pug, which may have been okay had the age range been closer, Shini is 11 months now & Toko is 6 yrs. old going on 13 or so. Don't know if it is due to his past abusive life or not, but he does not act like a 6 yr. old dog. We are at a loss here.

Pam we are amazed at you & your hubby taking all the pugs & a cat with you on the road in an RV! Here we were at times kind of complaining about two pugs in one two bedroom travel trailer, we have no room to complain. Thank you for setting us straight! LOL

Yup, that's us....the RV Pugs!  Daisy Doo has been RVing since she was 12 weeks old.  Wow, talk about problems, she started teething on poor Sassy Sue.  All this on a long Colorado trip.  What in God's green earth was I thinking?????  :0(

Thank you all so much for your great advice. We will be trying these things. We went shoppoing yesterday & bought Shini & Toko both new harnesses & leashes to match (and they are ADORABLE on them). Put Shini's on her & all was well. Went to adjust & put Toko's on & Shini was trying to take it away from us AS we are putting it on him. LOL this may sound aweful, but even though it is a nightmare, Mike & I crack up at Shini cause it is so dang unbelievable how humanly smart she is.And even though she is being stingy, somehow in that it is CUTE! She is a mess for sure.  And God love Toko, he is just like.............whatever, come what may.

My two cents advice here as I have gone thru the adding another to the pack several times.  Keep in mind that at 11 months Shini is still a puppy.  The relentless bothering of Toko is just what puppies do.  I am currently having to deal with this with Miss Ginger Bells.  She gives the others no peace.  Especially poor docile Puga.  Ginger follows her around constantly biting at her hind legs.  She pretty much torments  Pixie was the same way when she got here.  So much of it will calm down as Shini gets older.  Like around  sorry :(  I feel your pain as it is so hard to divide ones attention between them all.  As already said I would def get them their own crate.  Just give each plenty of undivided attention.  Maybe while your giving one attention Mike can give attention to the other.  As here we must divide and conquer..LOL  Many times Puga or who ever is under fire will get up in the back of one of our chairs or the sofa to get away from the brat chile.  We then keep brat chile entertained so Puga/whomever can get some peace.  I will also put some out in the mornings so I can have one on one time with different ones in the bed.  They love their play/cuddle time in the bed.  You have probably already tired this but buy some toys that are just for Toko and keep them when he is not playing with them in his crate which signafies they are his.  I know I know Shini will try and take them away.  Let her play with them and give Toko another and yes I know Shini will want whatever Toko  They are just like toddlers.  Just keep rotating the toys.  It's a LOT of work, trust me I  KNOW!!!!!  But eventually things will settle down.  Just hang in there girl friend.

I am glad that Pam was able to give you assistance, I would have been as much use as a chocolate teapot. My previous two had similar issues, the other way round though with the new boy being the dominant dog and the old one being far too soft for his own good.

Try and be even handed, As Di says, Shini is the precious little one and Toko is the interloper who because of previous abuse will not fight back and put her in her place. Also Dogs tend to respect the Bitches who are the tough ones.

Shini is just a jealous little girl, give her a little more time, she will calm down I am sure.  Lizzy was like that but is calming down nicely now.

Thanks for sharing Pam. That is a great idea. When we brought Toko in alot of Shini's routine was uprooted as well, sleeping pattern was automatically changed out as well. Pam if I remember correctly isn't it you & your husband travel in an RV at times with your pugs? We have a system here, but maybe we need to re-think it for the time being.

Well, Shini was the baby, the adored older child.  Now comes this intruder of mom and dad's affection!  She IS jealous!  Just keep lavishing love and attention.  I recommend that they each have their own crate.  It's their den, and Shini knows it is hers.  We've been through this twice with Sassy.  She was 7 when we brought puppy, Daisy, into the mix and 10 when we brought a senior Buffy home.  We find we give her extra time in bed with us at night after the others are crated.  They all love their own "bedrooms", and Sassy soaks up the extra love then wants to go to bed in her crate.  It takes so much patience, but remember she was your first baby.  Good Luck!  :0)
