Well tomorrow is finally the day I begin to switch rufus over to his new raw diet and I am pretty excited about it. Sounds sad I know, but I am hoping that it will help with his allergies *fingers and paws crossed*. Seen as his allergen is in dry kibble, I am hopeful for some positive results.
I tried him out with the coconut oil today and he likes it so that is good. I have just been to the butchers and stocked up on lots of meat for him so we are good to go. Tomorrows food is now defrosting and I have pureed some sweet potato up just incase we need it!
I am also on a diet which I have just started this week which is going well so far but doesn't seem fair that rufus will now be dining lavishly on fresh meat while I nibble rabbit food! Suppose needs must and all that :(

I can't believe the difference in him already! Nice firm, small, practically odourless poop, his breath is so much better and his eyes were tear stained as they were constantly streaming but now are bone dry and the red staining is starting to disappear! I wish I had switched him years ago when I first started to read about feeding raw but better late than never. Just been and stocked up on chicken breasts, ox kidney, heart and chicken legs and wings so that should keep him going for a while.
My diet is also successful so far! I have stuck to it religiously and have lost 7 pound in 2 weeks so I am very pleased :)

Good to hear that the diet is going well. All the best and hope his itching is completely history with this new diet!!!

Thanks Di! I think I will need it more than rufus lol. Pleased to report it seems to be going well; he is enjoying the food, it hasn't made him itch (yet cooked chicken does?) and it hasn't upset his tummy :) can't wait to give him a chicken leg next week to see if he knows what to do with it

Well good luck to both of you.  Yes Rufus sounds like he will be enjoying much more than you, but that is the life of us humans being on a diet.

Diet food is just so boring isn't it. I have just had a handful of sweet tomatoes and some sugar free jelly as a snack while Karl sat there and scoffed a sausage roll and a packet of crisps :(
Rufus loves cucumber too and has developed a recent liking of my strawberries (at least one of us is loving the rabbit food I suppose!). I think he will love the new diet, he loves meat so hopefully will do as well on it as Hektor does. I am just starting with those blocks from pets at home this week just to see if the chicken does irritate him. I hope not as I have just bought a load of chicken legs so Karl will be eating them solidly for a month if rufus can't have them!
How is the lovely little Hektor today? Has his itching calmed down? Rufus was petrified of our guinea pigs when we had them lol

I too should be emulating you on the rabbit food, or at least having the same treat as Hektor, lots of cucumber. Good luck with the new diet, I rather think Rufus will take to it like a duck to water. Hektor and I have neighbours who I have to look out for, two Guinea Pigs and a lovely Rabbit, would hate for him to eat them by mistake,
