Poor Rudy woke up this morning puking his little guts out on my bedspread. And I feel totally responsible. I bought a new dog food yesterday and gave him a little bit before bedtime. Usually I ease all the dogs onto any new food (just to be cautious since I have had problems in the past with sensitivity). But I had let the Pug's food run low (taking summer classes has totally put a cramp in getting things done around the house), and I had little left to mix with the new. Now my baby has a belly ache. Of course he is running around all excited over the commotion he has caused (and Baxter my little vacuum... well, one can just imagine what he wanted to help with when he saw what had happened). Add to list of joys in sleeping with the dogs: licking, panting, snoring, farting, and now puking in the bed. But they are my babies, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am glad I was nearby when he got sick so I could comfort him (and clean it up quickly).
Rudy is doing much better now, and I will be easing him along with a very bland boiled rice/chicken diet. Of course the other dogs want the same "sick dog" diet when they see me cooking. It just makes me sad to think that there are so many dogs out there that don't have a human to comfort them when they are sick. Puppies who don't have a human to see that they are getting fed and watered, and most of all loved. I can't think of any other animal that looks so dependently upon human companionship as a measure of their self worth as dogs (particularly our Pugs). What a privileged to be able to take care of such a loving animal, and honestly it is a privileged to take care of my sick little Rudy. Say a prayer tonight to all the sick and lonely dogs out there...

Thank you for the hugs and prayers! Rudy is doing great! I am still cooking a bland diet - I am a little afraid to add the dog food back in. I suppose if I just add a little bit of dog food to the chicken broth tomorrow it will be enough to adjust him. Of course I am sure that he would prefer me to just keep cooking him meals (wish I had the time).

I agree with that as so many out there don't have a loving home or someone's arms that can hold them and keep them safe. That's what rescues are all about is rescuing these lost angels and giving them a whole new world with loving people and a loving and safe home,we all should give our little ones a hug everyday and as we are hugging them send that hug to every other lost angel out there. As i hug mine every chance i get and especially my new rescue to let her know she is home.

"Looking back at my boy's life, sad that his friend Jetta died very young. She had bad legs and very Mich else wrong. Hektor could be said to have been an elderly gentleman when he passed on."
