Saw Shini's life flash before our very eyes this a.m.

Talk about heart failure!! We got up this morning, fixed coffee & usually Shini is at our feet wanting her breakfast, but not this morning. We didn't think too much about it as there have been a few times she has done this before and other than not eating, she was acting just fine. So we get our coffee & sit down and about maybe 5 minutes into us drinking our coffee, Shini gets up & walks across the room & acts like she is going to vomit, so Mike picks her up off the carpet & we take her into the kitchen on a puppy pad & she begins to vomit up flem, a bunch comes out & all of a sudden she begins shaking all over & then just falls over & is out cold. I run to her & put my finger down her throat & pull another bunch of flem out & she comes to life. Has anyone else ever experienced this? My sons pug Odie used to have seizures and somewhat of what I recalled hearing about Odie came to mind at this time. Mike seems to think that she just got choked & passed out. When she fell over my heart stopped as well, as I thought she had just died on us. Poor little thing, when she fell over she landed in her puke, so after she was okay, I gave her a nice warm bath & she has just been laying around since then and sleeping alot. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you all, Shini has done since the ordeal, and back to old self again. Thinking where their noses are so smudged, that when she choked on flem, she could get no air in or out and passed out. But we are keeping an eye on her, and if it happens again, will take her to vet.

oh boy that is a scare good thing you were there and knew what to do! maybe she does have a cold? which the vets usually say kennel cough maybe a round of antibiotics are needed? let us know what happens poor baby :(

Poor Shini, I can't imagine how scary that must have been.  I know the puke isn't uncommon but I would want to get her checked by a vet for the shaking and falling over part.

Thank you Pam, that is what we are leaning more towards, just choked. Although we still question the flim (spelling )?

Oh, my....what a scare!  I think Mike is right, she was just choking on something.  So glad she is doing better.  I had a pug who would do this and I had to watch Lucy eat at all times, dinner, snacks, all the time.  She'd fall over, too.  Once I had to pick her up upside down and shake her.  She lived a long life; I just had to be very alert.  Hugs to you and Shini.  :0)

My Peke a poo use to bring up flem all the time, had her to the vet for it the first couple of times it happened, but they never could find anything wrong, just kind of a weak tummy of sorts.  Never did the pass out though.  I would just keep and eye on her and if she is still like this tomorrow, take her to the vet for a check.  Keep us posted.

Thank you Christine. Yes, we are thinking a trip to vet tomorrow is probably in order if today repeats yesterday. So far so good this a.m.

Hi guys poor baby not sure what this is poor thing!! It really could be the food, a few weeks ago I started the girls on a new formula and Sophie would throw up immediately while eating!! I realized after two days of this the food just didn't sit well I stopped it and no more. I hope Shini is ok if it doesn't stop a trip to the vet may be next! Keep us posted pug hugs xoxoxo
