Royal Canine Weight n Stone vs other bladder stone brands

Hi everyone

I was in WA visiting my parents and Vala V got sick a few months ago she was diagnosed with bladded stones and had to have surgery and spent over a week at the vets. She was placed on a special diet Royal Canine Weight n Stone. Cheto is on Wellness Senior and I went to pick up his food Sat. The owner of the store was asking why I had not ordered Vala's Wellness so I explained what had happened etc. She stated that Royal Canine is not a good food etc. So my question to you is if any of you have your dogs on a special diet for stones, what do you use and recommend? Thanks so much Cyn

Thank-You for you input I appreciate it. I was so surprised to hear that. Vala V is doing so well on it.

One of my mom's dogs had stones, and they were put on Science Diet.  I think all vets choose to use something different.  I would say do some research on the net if no one else on here can give you any more advice.  The vet I go to I think uses Royal Canine, but I have not had any problems with this type of sistuation, so I cannot say which would be better.

Hey Cynthia.  Well here is my story.  I had the same thing happen but with two of my cats.  One unfortunatley did not get diagnosed in time and didn't make it.  But the other developed the same thing and is fine.  The vet also put him on the Royal Canine Urinary sos or something like that for cats to keep him from developing them again.  He has been on it for about 2 years as well as another one of my cats.  They have had no problems.  So as far as cats I am fine with the Royal Canine.  Seems to work for us.  As long as your Vala and Cheto don't have a problem with it I wouldn't worry about it.  I think the keeping the stones from coming back is more important.
