I know I need to post more "happy" blogs, as it seems like every time I log in, it's only to report something gone wrong. We think Xena had a seizure about ten minutes earlier, but aren't sure. She was walking just fine, then she started coughing & then collapsed over on her side & was kicking her legs. I was in the bathroom, so only my nephew saw. :(
I know what to do in case of a seizure, as I often dog sit for my neighbor's Boston Terrier & they are prone to them. However, I am wondering if Pugs are prone to them as well, & it will just be a part of her life.. or if it's something more.
She's fine now- sitting in my lap getting loves & wagging her tail. <3 She'll be at the Vet ASAP, I just wanted some other Pugs' opinions in the meantime.

Well tell him we'll get through it together cause I know what he's going through!! And I know what you mean about his age.. My humans are all old farts but I love 'em & that's why I try to keep them on their toes as much as possible! Give your old man XOXO's for me & tell him I'm on his side & although I don't know him, love him dearly! <3 <3 <3 Snorts & Kisses!

My elderly pug has now, four times, over the space of a year, gagged, coughed and passed out....the most recent time being last night. He goes rigid, drops on his side like a rock, lets go his urine, jaw is clenched. I have, each time, pushed two fingers down into his throat to open his airway. He has a collapsed trachea which I am told is common in pugs. He takes three kinds of pills to help this issue. The episodes are always prefaced with a bit of a gag and cough. I loose years off my life each time it happens. I know he is elderly but I want him with me as long as possible.....I worship my Puggie.

THEY'RE NOT SEIZURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D YAYY!!!! The Vet says I'm just getting over-excited & passing out, which still- isn't good.. maybe I should calm down.. but I'm just such a HAPPY PUG I can't help it! Lol I want to thank you ALL for your thoughts, concerns, stories, & advice. It means so much to know that I have friends on here who understand what I may (or in this case may not) be going through & who care enough to offer their words of wisdom in an attempt to help little ol' me. (:
I love you all *snort*

My mom thinks I've had another (what we think is a) seizure..... I was all excited when she came home (as always:), then we were on the bed cuddling & all I know is mom said I made a noise in my throat and then flopped on
my side and went stiff. :( She says she doesn't think I was breathing.. She got real scared & shook me and slapped me a couple of times to try and snap me out of it. Then she says I cried a couple times and loosened up.. Are these seizures?? I don't remember anything, but I know when it happens it makes my family sad .... And I don't like that at all. I'd see the vet but our nearest one is a COMLETE MORON! Is there anything specific we should be doing or should look out for when it happens? My sister has read up on seizures quite a bit because she babysits for a Boston Terrier & she's known for having them. Any info or personal experiences you can share is greatly appreciated!! I'm feeling better now.. I wish I could see my sister but she's baby sitting tonight.. Anyway, hope you all are doing well.. I'm going to go find a lap & get some loves ........ <3

Another that coughs...

Its just that everytime Milo has his problems he has a slight cough before. One time he began coughing and collapsd onto his side rigid and another he was on my lap, coughed and his head stretched back and his legs went out and he was rigid. Hmm... Yet Milo still breaths.

Sophie is going through something very similar, you might want to trade notes with her on this.

Brent is the man you want, but yes like all mammals, Pugs can be prone to things like epilepsy or she may have had a fit caused by lack of air especially as she was coughing. Have you had her checked out for narrow nostrils and elongated palate?
