I LOVE Flint River - my younger pug is allergic to Chicken, corn and wheat -- and so Flint River has been wonderful for the past 7 years for us! Similar price per month as Purina or any other dry food, but doesn't have ambiguous "animal by-products" or wheat, etc. (we get the Lamb/rice kind). Is a dry food that is not as stinky as most dog foods and doesn't have all the preservatives, etc. It's hard to find in stores b/c they sell direct - so look them up on-line and have a bag shipped - I can't speak highly enough of this food! :)

Hi Mike, from all my reserch the #1 grain free kibble out there is Orijen or Nature's Variety, it is awesome! If you are having allergy problem, cooling meats the best to feed such as fish, venison, rabbit and duck. Flavors like turkey, chicken, beef may still cause an allergy. I also recommending rotating proteins as well to get balanced nutrition! You also may want to consider commercial raw that  is what I feed and I rotate proteins if you need suggestions or help let me know!

I was going to ask why grain free. I know why I no longer use any commercial kibble. All of them contain starch of some sort and with Hektor having a yeast overgrowth he cannot have any. They tend to use things like sweet potato or potato instead of grain but this means they all contain more of the cheapest materials as filler. Hektor was put on Salmon and Potato which caused ear problems and constant conjunctivitis. I now know the reasons for this but it has been a long learning curve and the reason Hektor is on raw.
