Social network for pugs and their people.
We've had a busy few weeks, so ive not been on for a while. Just getting back to normal now so thought I'd update you.
Miley has now been spayed.........and just for a change, it wasnt straight forward. Everything went ok with the operation but they found that she only had half a uterus. The vet said it was a good job we decided to have her done rather than have a litter, she would have either had complications or wouldn't have been able to carry pups. At least I won't be thinking "what if."
Good part - Miley doesn't have to have the Luxating Patella op (yet) but she now has this on both knees not just the one. Bad part..... She also has hip dysplasia slighty. Grrr, poor puppy. Shes already on Sinaquin suplement tablets so that should help her. Her legs and hips don't seem to be bothering her at the moment but they think she will get arthritis at a young age :( The vet told us the only things we can do is limit her jumping and to have controlled lead walks. I'm a bit unsure what to do with her really, I don't want to knock all the fun out of her and for her not to charge around the garden chasing what ever it is that she makes up. On the other hand I want to keep her fit and healthy for as long as I can.
The other thing we have been worrying about......Miley went back for her two day check up after being spayed, the wound was healing really well and everything was normal she was still quiet within herself but i expected that after a big op. The appointment was with the nurse who then referred us to the vet (not the one we normally see) because her eyes had been gooey. The vet did a quick eye test on her and told us she had a scratch on both eyes and that we should see the eye specialst. Now Miley has had this since we have had her and it has never bothered her and she can see out of both eyes. I really dont want her to go through anymore tests if its really not necessary. She has had eye drops for a week which has cleared the gooeyness up. We went back to our normal vet for 10 day check up and she also suggested it wouldn't do any harm to see him although she is sure her eyes are ok. Rather than us having to pay specialist fees she has put it through as a futher check up from the spay as her wound hasnt healed as well as they hoped. We are due to see him this Saturday so finger crossed.
I feel like everytime we go to the vet we get told something else is wrong with her. I suppose we could take a completly healthy dog to the vet and they would find something wrong.
Its getting cold now so its definatly coat time for the little one. I repaired her red coat from last year, it took me TWO hours to sew 3 bits of velcro! ooops, you can probably guess Im not really the repairing type, but its such a cute coat. Im going out at lunch to find her another winter coat! he he Rik will go mad :) He says she has more coats than him, "but a girls gota have choice!"
Hope you are all ok.
