I feed two of my girls really good dog food kibbles, usually rated 4or a 5 out of 5.They are not cheap. We have used many different brands and flavors over the years. Some have worked better than othersThey have been eating California naturals for 6 months or so and ive used a bag or two of Evo also. Those work good.I decided to try Instinct by Natures vareity, lamb meal formula. They have had lamb before and were fine.It is rated a 5 i think, anyway 2 days 4 meals on this and Bella and Jade have lost fur on there legs.I mean they were walking in front of me and im like what!!I thought i was imagining this as why would they be looseing fur?Nope Jades elbows are hairless, bellas not too far behind and if Moosh wasnt blonde i could probably see that she has lost some too.Its not like i have found clumps of hair ,,its just not on them anymore! In all my years ive never had a food do this much damage in just 2 days.Jade has been eating nothing but Raw for 4 months, but i really wanted to add one meal a day of dry so she ate it also for 2 meals only..she itched uncrontrolably for days..that is par for the course with her allergies, she will just have to stay on raw forever.Im stumped and agrivated. They will take this bag back and I can get the Evo or CN but geez..anyone else have this happen from a good kibble?I cant imagine what would have happened if i didnt notice for like a week or so..they would be bald! Ok rant over, happy Thankgiving all.

My none pug Libby, the rescue lab, has had allergies since she was adopted.  When we first got her, her fur was soft and she had a nice coat.  It started with little clumps of fur falling off her ears, than over the next two years it gradually went to her back legs and then to her belly and front legs.  She was first checked for mange, couldn't find any mites, but they treated her anyway.  Than she was treated for skin infections(put on anti-biotics).  They drew blood and checked for inturnal parasites and treated for them also.  She has been on grain free food for all this time and grain free treats.  Now her fur is almost all gone on her belly and hind legs and little spots all over the rest of her body.  I've contacted an allergist and am going to give up and take her in to be tested for invoirmental allergies(dust, grass,etc.).  It's going to be expensive but worth it if we can find out and then get her some shots to counter act the allergy.  I will try to keep everyone updated as to what is happening and how it's being treated, because I know any pug owner is interested in allergies and how they are diagnosed and treated.     Doc and his girls

Aww I'm so sorry to hear of all the horrible allergy problems many of your Pugs have :(  Unfortunately I don't have any experience or advice on this :(

I usually fed mine Evo and that has worked well.  I guess pugs can be allergic to foods just like us the poor babies!

Wee woman this has that in it,its tapioca..Bella and Moosh do fine on a Pea starch or a potatoe starch, thought i would try the tapioca. It could have been that or something else in there. Its a long list of ingredients.Thats why i have been likeing and useing the Evo Or California naturals as there are hardly any ingredients in it..)Ive read about the Brothers but it really didnt look any different than some of the ones ive tried and can get localy at my store. The Wysung looked the best to me but they had some recalls and I would have to order it.Another thing is Moosh likes to lick her bed or my bed blankets and it drives me nutts, well after this food she is going crazy licking,it must be her way of an alergy..

I had a little of the food that Miriam my carer had fed Hektor, it brought on the itchy's it took a bit of time but it did the job. We said to our vet and I unfortunately have to day it to you that all dry food has some sort of binder. Be it rice, potato, corn or wheat the latest one I heard of has casava. Now the person who makes this told me that you could use this on a Yeast avoidance diet but as it was not sold in Britain I could not say. It is called Brothers.

I am very reluctant to use any commercial product because I cannot trust them.

If this is doing this to your two others I certainly would consider writing to them. Jade has had enough trouble.

Wow Tracy, that is terrible, I would also make sure and write a letter to the company to let them know that this has happened, or at least go to their website and post a comment so other can see it.  Food is such an important part of their lives, and we have so many problems with them, what gives.  Canadae is what I use, and this was after a long search for something that would make Linus firm.  They were in that recall back awhile ago, and I was like in a panic cause I thought I was going to have to find something new.  I am glad the recall was not for them but part of their distributors, and it came back to the store.
