Here's Millie, APARN's Newest Rescue Puggy!

The "jail break" took place at 2:15 PM and we now have Millie safe and secure. This poor little old lady is only 9 1/2 lbs and is skin and bones. She has a terrible skin condition and her poor little ears are packed with dirt. Her left eye is also a bit bigger than the right, so I fear there might be a problem there. She was found as a stray 3 days ago and taken to a local kill shelter. They said she was so "nasty" and was going to be put to sleep after her three days were up. :0( Thank God an angel named Lolly called me and I called our director, Terri. APARN, Arizona Pug Adoption & Rescue Network, wants to at least give her a fighting chance! So, she's staying with me and the girls for the summer. She's such a little lover, obviously was taken care of at some point before she was homeless. So far she's had a bath, I attempted ear wash solution, fed (she loved the menu), and has a vet appointment in the morning. I'll keep you all updated on her recuperation and hopefully she'll soon find her forever home.

You don't know how much your tender notes mean to me. I wonder if the person who started Pugslife knows what an incredible sharing tool she/he has given to us all. I truly believe I couldn't have gotten through this ordeal without you all. God bless you. :0)

Am so sorry the poor baby had to go through so much. But as everyone else here has said, she is fortunate she was with you in her last few days. And now she is in a pain-free land of happiness.....

I can hardly type, my eyes are full of tears, which will soon be running down my face. Oh that poor little baby. Oh Pam if it's any consolation, know that Millie's last days were spent with love and care from you. You made her last moments very special. She is now free from all her ills. Bless you ♥

This is how I picture Millie at Rainbow Bridge.

Dear friends, I have tears in my eyes as I write this. The vet was so loving and compassionate as she softly told me all that this little dear would have to go through: Her left eye would have to be removed, along with most of her teeth in the cleaning, she also had a long neglected skin allergy to the point that her little tummy was black leather and on top of that she had Sarcoptic Mange. Medication for the allergy would run about 50-70 per month and we both wondered if that would prevent her adoption. What I thought were hemorrhoids, were infected anal glands with a tumor on her anus. Skin and bones, we didn't think that she could even take the surgeries that would be involved. The mange condition was actually the easiest to fix. I looked down into those sweet little eyes and remembered how happy she seemed last night although she was constantly scratching her little legs and tummy. After a call to our APARN director, and more talk with the vet, we all concurred that Millie should go to the Rainbow Bridge. I cuddled and rocked her while her sedative worked it's magic and the vet expertly found a vein for the end. I believe her little heart was remembering the joy of the last 24 hours and I promised her she'd see my other puggies at the Bridge! Thank you dear friends for all your love and concern; I know we made the best decision for sweet Millie. :0(
