What a day! Smudge is completely adorable as expected, and sooo much more! Slept most of the way home, and seriously seems houstrained already! He follows me everywhere I go but at the same time can be content playing on his own. He will even get in his crate willingly and has pooped and peed numerous times outside! Its like a dream come true for a first-time puppy owner!

Perhaps I am getting ahead of myself, since we haven't survived the first night sleep yet, so we shall see. Smudge's first vet check up is tomorrow and I am praying and believing he will pass inspection with flying colors! My husband and I are sooo blessed to have this precious little love button! He is sleeping in my arms as I type! :)

Hi I am glad that you and Mr Smudge are surviving,we found keeping the boy with us at night helped a lot with the toileting as he would go and wake my Husband up (such a good boy) and he would be whisked down to the garden. I must admit his training was easier because of this. He now has two beds in our bedroom, one either side of the bed, he often goes to sleep in one and we find him in the other in the morning. I agree with Doris, PUG RULE.

thanx for your insight! These past two nights we've had him in his crate in our bedroom.. he is very good, barely cries and slept a full 6 hours before whimpering to go potty! He is a good baby boy and my husband and I are excited to bond with him as the days go on during his puppy hood.. I also weighed him today and couldn't believe that he is only 2.5 pounds! so precious :o)

Smudge sounds terrific! You seem to be one of the lucky owners as pugs can also be a lot of trouble if they want to. How was the first night by the way?

Just the lull before the storm methinks, or maybe not. Hektor was the puppy from hell in many ways, but lovely as well. He slept well, but not enough and by the end of the week was biting everyone. We realised that he was overtired and popped him in his box and put him into the kitchen and after an hour he was much nicer. After that we made sure he got enough sleep, something, nearly two years on, we still do. So once little Smudge finds his feet, you will have to keep on yours, Pugs are really sweet but remember they are dogs and still have all the instincts of their ancestor the wolf. I am sure he will continue to be as good as gold, but better to be forearmed
