CALLING ALL OF YOU"S WHO HAVE DEALT WITH RESCUE PUGS! Please HELP!

Well my son from up in Connecticut surprised me yesterday (My 50th birthday) by knocking on my door! I was so surprised, best birthday ever!!! Well he came right in & sat on the big rug in the kitchen (where Takota Tucker loves to sleep) And stared to pet Takota, he sat there forever & got up & came into living room & he started asking me questions about Takota. Remember this is the son who has a pug & is pug NUTS! We were sitting here talking & all of a sudden my son looks at me ever so dead serious & says to me..........."Mom? Let me take this little guy to New England" I was like "WHAT?" He said mom when I walked in here and looked at Takota, there was a connection! (Takota doesn't get excited about nothing, but he was so hyped up   & all over my son, it was like the lite bulb was turned on again in Takota. He even played which we have not seen since we have had him. He was ALL about my son. Anyway, my son is really wanting to take him back with him. Him & his wife have been talking about getting another pug for the last several months. As some of you know my son & his wife spoil their pug Odie (my grandpup) HORRIBLY! LOL but he is a good spoiled. So Mike & I are like, we don't know what to think here. We love him to death, but we also saw that light bulb in Takota go off when he was with my son. So which is worse to selfishly keep him here with us or unselfishly let him go to where he can really be happy? Mike said if he goes, that he (Mike) will cry like a baby. But yet he said that how can we hold onto him for our own self gratification & that would not be in the best interest of Takota.  I guess our biggest concern here is that Takota has already been pitched from pillar to post, and that this will be just another pitching for him. Or will it even phase him at all, will he just think he is finally going home? I already KNOW that Mike & I will both cry (that may sound crazy but if you met Takota you would see what we see in him). And we do not even question the fact of him being takin EXTREEM good care of, that is not even in the equasion here, as he will be in the best of hands. My son & his wife make VERY good money! So anything that Takota would ever need he would DEFINATELY have & some! Any vet bill would not be an issue to them. They are like us, they have their dog at the vets office if he sniffles. And as far as him being loved he could not be loved any greater, they LOVE animals............PERIOD! So any quick input into this situation would be great and as I said especially from those of you who have dealt with rescue pugs, what would be in the BEST interest for Takota here? Thank you Pugslife family. You all are great!

I just read this...I am so glad you are keeping him.  I was thinking that I am sure your son meant well but, he is YOUR pet.  Stability is important and pugs love everyone as you know.  Also you chose Takota for your household.

I think that you made the right decision, I think that the one thing a rescue needs most apart from all the usual things like love food and care is stability. Takota may well have settled with your son but it would be another move. Good luck to the four of you.

He now knows he is staying put and is happy as a clam, and was showing it last night on his walk.  Look at me I have a new mom and dad that love me, and I a sister that, well she might love me in time  HEHE

Thank you Di. We are happy here too! We just took the kiddo's for their evening walk and instead of the usual Takota just wondering along like he had no idea where he was, tonight Takota led the pack!! LOL!! Maybe my son was to come breath life back into him was all the whole purpose after all!  LOL if such a thing exists. He did the Pug Prance the whole way with head held high! So proud of him!! Mike & I got so tickled, we were like....."look at you go Takota!!" he looked at us like........."Yip!" LOL too cute!
