Social network for pugs and their people.
Well as most already know, I went down to Phoenix to collect my new little lady Kloe. Why you say would you travel all the way to Phoenix when there must be pugs in your area? And how did the experience go? Well here is my story (well all that I'm allowed to tell). :)
My little Zoe passed away in February. I was missing her badly even though I have two other non pug dogs. I found pugslife and read a bunch of posts and looked at a bunch of pictures. Well that made things worse. :) I had a bunch of Zoe's washable diapers left over so I thought I'd see if anyone wanted them. Two people spoke up and I shipped them down to Montana and Arizona I think. I was looking into the possibility of Zoe's breeder having a new litter. One was expected in May possibly. Then a member on pugslife, Fran, emailed me. She was one of the members I sent the diapers down to. She said she was having a litter in late April and would I like to get one? Well at first I thought no since its just so far, my passport wasn't up to date, etc. A week or so went by and we talked a bit more. I think the puppies were born and there was one fawn female (which is what I wanted) out of the six. I then decided what the heck, lets go on an adventure. It will be something to talk about.
So I got my passport and did some research. I tried to book my flight using aeroplan points, but the best flights they had were three planes and 11-21hrs, yikes. A puppy ain't going to like that! So I paid for the flights, used Westjet after doing a bit of research and seeing that they got the best reviews when bringing pets. They also were the cheapest at only an extra $50 to ride in the cabin. :)
The flight down was good, everything went well except I had to run for my connecting flight since US Customs/security was very busy, but I made it. Everyone was curious about my empty pet carrier (oh ya, I got that for $20 on Craigslist).
I arrived in Phoenix, got my bags and then waited hours in the terminal. DOH!!! For some reason I was thinking Fran was coming into the terminal, my fault. And I didn't have her phone number! And I didn't want to turn my phone on since the roaming charges would be extreme (I was going to setup a temp plan to make the roaming not as expensive, but I waited until the last day and they weren't open until I was actually in the US! :)). So I finally turned my phone on and saw an email from Fran at 9:30am (it was 3:00pm by then). She said she was gong to drive around the entrance and pick me up. :). I phoned my business partner, got him to look up Fran's number on the internet. He found her number through her pug ads. Luckily she answered and we finally met up.
more to come later tonight?......
