I was attending an APARN foster event at Choice Pet Market when a very intent looking woman approached me. Her name was Kathleen and she owned a Talent Agency for animals. She needed 3 more pugs for a movie. She needed two fawns and a black and wanted them to be bonded. In the movie the main character owns 6 pugs. She already had 3 pugs that she previously worked with. I happened to have the combo of dogs she needed and in addition had one more black pug. I also live fairly near her, so I wanted my boys to do the movie and planned to donate any proceeds to APARN.

Kathleen spent a month and a half training my boys. Gary would take them over in the morning and Kathleen would return boys to me at night. This happened several days every week. Each time Kathleen brought them home she showed me their progress. They had to sit and stay and pay attention to Kathleen before they could greet me. Kathleen remained undecided about which black boy she wanted to use. Maverick was training easier, but Jack was a little more traditional pug looking. Jack unfortunately is a bubble head. He's easily bored and distracted. One day he realized that when all 7 dogs sat in a line he could jump up and bump into the dog next to him and start a dominoe effect of dogs falling over and scattering all over. This was much more fun than sitting still! But she gradually got even crazy Jack trained. One day they were all doing a sit stay in her front room. Kathleen has 2 rambunctious kittens. They came into the room and started crawling all over the dogs and trying to play with them. My boys looked worried, but stayed just like they were supposed to!

The shoot took place during 1 very long 16 hour day. The main actress, Sarah Chalke from Scrubs, fell in love with Jack and requested that he be brought back the next day for a shoot involving just him. He sat on the couch next to Sarah. She notices a pug fell into the pool and jumps up and around screaming. Jack obviously thought she was crazy but sat there like he was trained to do!

THE MOVIE IS CALLED "MANEATER" . IT IS A 4 HOUR MINI-SERIES ON LIFETIME CABLE. IT SHOWS AT 9:00 PM ON SATURDAY MAY 30 AND SUNDAY MAY 31. Two members of APARN were extra's in the movie also!

Kathleen wasn't sure if my guys would get any more work but added them to her portfolio. Two my great surprise and pleasure my boys have had some work since.

Mooch got to be in a commercial for Desert Schools Credit Union. The jist of it is that he's the baby of a couple who are worried about how they can provide the best of everything for him. They also shot still photographs so he may be featured at branches. If so, I really want a poster. I might offer my branch to have Mooch "Paw"tograph a poster in exchange for one of my own!

Jack was chosen to model dresses for Petsmart.com. He's wearing 3 dresses (don't tell him that real men don't wear pink!) This is Jack's second time at cross-dressing. All the pugs had to wear dresses for the wedding scene in "Maneater"! Jack is willing to do anything necessary for his art!

I am having a lot of fun with this. There's very little money offered. Mostly I just enjoy the bragging rights! I've posted pictures from the various shoots in my photo's. It's so much fun to be loved by the famous dogs!

I read your blog yesterday & happened to be flipping thru the channels last night and saw Part 1 of Maneater! Was so excited for you! I immediately hit the record button. I watched it alone, my boys (Jackson & Hector) were at the lake w/their daddy. I told my daugthers about it (we love to watch anything with a Pug it) & we look forward to watching Part 2 tonight. How exciting for you and your whole family! Best of wishes from our Pug family to yours!
