When I met my husband he had a pug named Dexter. Dexter was a naughty little fellow that loved my expensive shoes. Even though he demolished several pair and he chased me around the house I grew a great fondness for him. Unfortunately, he did so much damage in the house my husband at the time had to sell him. We were both hurt, me even more so than my husband.
Months went by and I always would ask the new owners how he was doing? He was doing great. That made me happy, but I still missed the little guy.
I had to leave for training for several months and would be gone on Valentine's Day. February 2009, I was very hurt that I would not be able to see my husband on our first Valentine's Day. I was coming downstairs from the barracks and my husband was standing there with a dozen roses and two boxes. Wow! My husband drove all this way to be here with me. I tried keeping my bearing but I hugged him. After, I opened the first box and it was a white gold necklace with a diamond heart pendant. Beautiful!!! The next box I opened had just a note in it...it said to go look in the car. I ran to the car opened the door and there sat the cutest little pug puppy ever with a bow tie on..too cute. Oh my!! I cried, I was soo happy. My husband told me that Dexter was his Dad. Wow!! No idea. Next he asked me what I wanted to name the little guy...I thought about it...and I said....Milo. And that is how Milo came into my life.
October 2009, I was sitting at home thinking about how great it would be to have another pug; a wife for my Milo to make him happy. I searched and I searched, thinking I was never going to find the one that I wanted. Finally, I looked in the classifieds and there was a female pug being sold for $200 and they wanted her gone quickly. I called them up and asked if I could come see her with my Milo and they said sure. We went there and when Milo and Sugar met it was love at first site. They sniffed each other and went around in circles and looked as if they even kissed. She was so much more energetic than he though. She jumped in my lap and began giving me sugar....I knew then where the name Sugar came from. She became my gift to my husband.
They have continued to be a blessing to our family. June 5th, 2010 Sugar became the proud mom of 6 beautiful pug puppies. Milo being the proud Papa helped Sugar in cleaning and watching the rambunctious pups. After a while we were able to find wonderful homes for these pups with them being assured that if ever they can no longer care for them they may bring them here to me. We all keep in touch and the pups are doing well. Several live close by so they bring them by to see their parents.
My pugs mean the world to me, they are the most loyal companions I have ever had. I would never change my decision to have these wonderful babies.
