Shopping for the Perfect Halloween Costume!

Well, the girls were tired of being the bumblebee and the ladybug, so it was time for new costumes. I fell in love with these, especially with the little tu-tus attached. Jeff was not amused, but the girls love to answer the door for the trick or treaters, so they just had to have new costumes! Glad I got to the store in September when there was quite a supply of new ones.… Continue

The Hiker Pugs at Dogtown Lake, Williams, Arizona

Had the best weekend at Dogtown Lake. Jeff and I took the motorhome and the camper pugs and off we went. Heard the elk bugling and hiked over to the meadow. Don't worry, we didn't get too close! The weekend was so relaxing, it was hard to come home and get back to work. But...we have our October trip to look forward to. We will be off to Zion National Park, one of my favorites!… Continue

Rocky's Jail Break

The girls and I assisted in a jail break today! Rocky is now in the hands of APARN (Arizona Pug Adoption and Rescue Network), not that jail cell at the pound. He's such a sweet, I pray he finds his forever home soon. :0)

We Hate This X-Pen!

What a difference in my girls' personalities. We take an X-pen with us when we RV, although they prefer sitting in their chairs. Yes, that's right, they have their own chairs. Daisy Doo resigns herself to being "locked" up, rolls over and lets the sun re-charge her energy. Sassy Sue, on the other hand, pouts! We cracked up when we saw her resting her little chin on the bars of her "jail". Pugs sure can… Continue

The Official Quilt Testers!

Here are my official quilt testers, checking the texture and quality of my newest quilt. In the foreground is Sassy, executive quilt tester, and in the back ground is Daisy, our apprentice pillow plumper. Sadly, not all quilters are blessed with such hard working quilt testers. These motivated workers give their best work both during and after the quilting process, although the little apprentice has been known to fall asleep at times! Kudos to… Continue

Camping at Potato Patch on Mingus Mountain

We just got back from a weekend get-away on Mingus Mountain. It's been heating up in Northern AZ, and it was a treat to be in the cool pines of the National Forest Service campground of Potato Patch. Daisy and Sassy love the camping and prefer to be on a camp chair rather than be in their X-pen. As I write this on Monday, they are already sacked out beside me. I guess all that hiking and fresh air tired them out!… Continue

Petroglyph Puggies

Jeff and I took the girls to Rain Tank Wash Site to look for Native American pictographs (painted designs) and petroglyphs (carved into stone). This site afforded us some great specimens and is graffiti free! What a find. The puggies love to go on our jeep trips and are quite the little climbers. What a great way to spend a sunny Arizona Sunday.… Continue

Suzi's New Chair

This is Suzi, my mom and dad's pride and joy. She is one spoiled brat; spoken like a jealous sister! My parents found this rocking chair and of course she wouldn't go near it when it tilted, so my dad worked at taking off the rockers and making it steady. Now she just grabs a toy, jumps on up, and she's ready to watch TV with my parents. Yes, she is one spoiled puggy!… Continue

Easter Camping Trip

We took the "new" motorhome out for the long weekend to Lynx Lake. The good thing about a 1994 motorhome is, it fits our budget, the bad is you have to work out the problems. As you can see from the picture, the girls thought the campfire was the best part! They love marshmallows! Check out the two videos I uploaded, too. We ended up getting rain and SNOWED out and had to come home early, but it was fun.… Continue

What if Pug Rescue Groups Got This Message?

Dear Child Rescue,

Must rehome due to new addtion to family "After two long years of being on a

waiting list for an agility dog, we have been notified by the breeder that, at

long last, our number has come up and …WE ARE HAVING A PUPPY!!!

We must get rid of our children IMMEDIATELY because we just know how time

consuming our new little puppy is going to be and it just wouldn't be fair to

the children. Since our little puppy will be arriving on Monday we MUST… Continue

Daisy Doo's 1st Birthday!

It took 12 shots to get this one. Sassy Sue was barking and taking Daisy's attention! You people understand me; my husband thought the first 2 shots were fine! Don't worry if you look at the cake and think it's chocolate; it's really a chunk of doggy beef log that I was going to cube for "cookies". I thought it made a great cake, don't you? Both Daisy and Sassy were sorely disappointed that they only got one little cube.… Continue

Arizona's Pugstock 2009

This wee leprechaun was at one of the vendor tables at APARN's Pugstock 2009. He welcomed all the puggies to a great pug party. Sassy Sue and Daisy Doo had a grand time and slept all the way home; they were tuckered out! Kudo's to Terri Wood and all the Volunteers of APARN (Arizona Pug Adoption & Rescue Network). Jeff and I had a blast, too.… Continue

A Puggy Snow Day

We had 13 inches of snow in Prescott, Arizona last night and the school called a snow day. Yippee! The puggies and I had a blast. We played in the snow, baked cookies and bread, made a big pot of chili, and did some quilting. It's going to be hard to get back to teaching tomorrow after having that much fun! :0)

A Visit With Rainbow's End Pugs

What a fun afternoon. Since I had a Gifted Teachers Conference in Phoenix I had time to drop in at Cheri's in Black Canyon City to see the pups. At 6 weeks old they are adorable! Here a picture of Jake (Take a Break Jake), Kayce's little male, enjoying the pups. He is sooooo relaxed and enjoys the puppies. You can see just a bit of Pixie, Elizabeth's pride and joy, to the right. What a nice visit, wish I could have taken Daisy and Sassy with me.… Continue

New Year's Eve in Sedona, Arizona

We started a tradition last New Years Eve to spend it in our favorite RV resort in Sedona, Arizona. This was our second year there and we've booked our site for next year, too! Sassy and Daisy love hiking and Jeeping; what a way to spend the last day of 2008 and the first day of 2009! :0)

Christmas 2008

It was hard to have Christmas without our beloved Lucy, but we were able to talk about her without crying now. Daisy and Sassy enjoyed their Christmas. Of course Daisy thinks the cat's present was much more interesting than her own! Merry Christmas to all my friends on Pugslife! :0)

Lucy Has Gone to the Rainbow Bridge

I wasn't prepared for this; Lucy was at the vet's for observation for gastric upset. The next morning I got a call saying my old gal had a massive cardiac arrest and they were unable to revive her. What a shock. With all her respiratory and arthritic problems I thought that would take her. But, I know she died happy. The vet said she was feeling better and was standing up watching him do some dental work; she was even wagging her tail! Then, she just… Continue

3 in a bed and the little one said.......

As the weather becomes chillier, the pugs cuddle closer. Daisy, the 8 month old loves to cuddle with Lucy, the 12 year old. Sassy, who is 7, is kind of a loner, but the cooler weather is warming up her disposition. Here they are in the bed and it brings to mind that song, "Ten in a bed and the little one said, roll over, roll over. They all rolled over and one fell out, 9 in the bed and the little one said......." You get the idea. Well no one… Continue

One Sunbeam and Three Puggies!

It's Veterans Day and I have the day off. I was just reading a newspaper article about our Veterans Day parade and sipping some tea when I noticed the girls all squished into one sunbeam. Of course we pug people know we just have to take a picture, don't we? I think I'll dress them in red, white, and blue bows and take them to the courthouse plaza. Nothing more patriotic than puggies on… Continue
