We just got back from a weekend get-away on Mingus Mountain. It's been heating up in Northern AZ, and it was a treat to be in the cool pines of the National Forest Service campground of Potato Patch. Daisy and Sassy love the camping and prefer to be on a camp chair rather than be in their X-pen. As I write this on Monday, they are already sacked out beside me. I guess all that hiking and fresh air tired them out!… Continue

I have had a terrible time getting Baxter to lose weight. I have tried several different types of diet food (both prescription and non), adjusting the amount of food, reduced calorie treats, exercising. Being a rescue dog he came with a lot of baggage (both emotionally and health wise). While he was a very big Pug when we adopted him I contributed to the problem in using treats to train him. My second pug Rudy is also an eater (what Pug isn't?!), but is much more high energy and enjoys playing… Continue

Georgia came into our lives early in our fostering career. She came to Rescue with her brother, Tiger, after there previous owner was put into a nursing home. It was obvious that they were well cared for and loved previously. Both were Senior pugs.
Tiger was not a real attractive boy. He also had housebreaking issues and a minor heart problem. Georgia was cute, small (14 lbs.) and very fiesty. She had limited eyesight, but I always compared her to the 90 year old woman who insisted… Continue

I'm a little worred my baby Iggy had a blood transfusion, he is a year and 4 months. His red blood cell count was very low and had to stay over night at the hospital. He's doing better now but my question is... Is this common amoung his breed? Has anyone else had to have a trasfusion done? He has a follow up tomorrow at the Vets hopefully his blood count is back to normal.

DR MARTY GOLDSTEIN
Hi there I made an appointment to go see this famous Dr Marty Vet to the stars (Oprah, Martha, John Travolta to name a few...) My appointment is July 1, 2009.
I'm more interested if anyone here has any experience with going to this practice. They offer an integrative approach. traditional and very advanced homepathic and wholistic.
Have 1 friend who started going to him recently and is over the moon.
My senior pug has eye issues (constant… Continue

Some what funny and relief, despite waited for so long at the back stage, finally both me and baby has got a chance to come out for a stroll. Baby was totally new to Show competition, all her agility and obedient trail wasnt useful here.. however.. she has the least hair, and shortest of them all.....
Dog Show is like a beauty contest, every dog shows their best groomed scene. Due to lacking of experience, we came with… Continue

When our little girl Emma plays or is excited he heart pounds so hard you can actually see the side of her chest moving in and out. It also seems to effect her breath. She is getting enough air but when she is panting she is exhaling with the beat of her heart. You can clearly see it beating and it looks alarming. In prior visits to the vet we have been unable to duplicate the event but yesterday when we took her to update her shots it was doing it. The doctor was able to observe and listen to… Continue

Just thought I would let everyone know that my Zoe is having both surgeries today. Please keep her in your hearts and prayers.
I appreciate it. She is so precious, I am worried about my little girl pug going through this surgery.
I know it is the best thing for her. She is suffering with breathing problems; I just hope and pray all goes well for her today and that she has no complications.
I will update later and let you know how she is… Continue

New research suggests that our best friends have a broad range of emotions and morals.
Dogs develop this great sense of trust. We're tightly linked, and there's something spiritual about that unity.
I'm convinced many animals can distinguish right from wrong Bekoff said who also believes that looking for the roots of morality in animals is a difficult scientific under taking. It begins with looking for emotions central to morality, such as empathy.
In humans, emotions are… Continue
