Thank you for the warm welcome to pugslife! I stumbled upon this site last night after Elly had her first seizure, and i was trying to find any information i could. Elly was with grandma and grandpa and they rushed her to a 24 hour emergency vet, where they were told she had a seizure (they had suspected stroke). This calmed me down a little because Ive heard of dogs having seizures before and still living long heathy lives. Anyone reading go through anything similar? Or know of someone who… Continue

OMG, I cant believe what just happened! I was browning some ground beef for tacos, and I left the room for a minute. Came back to find Luna (our lab) with her paws up on the stove, eating the meat right out of the hot skillet! She had eaten about a third of a pound. She didn't seem to have burned her tongue, but it freaked me out, burner on medium heat and all. Needless to say, she got quite a talking to. This is something I never even thought to worry about. I've had some sneaky little thieves… Continue

I just had to tell you all about what Lily was doing this morning. I had everyone out before I went to work as always. I opened the door to let everyone in, and stepped out to bring Lily in (she has to be carried), and as I when to pick her up, she took off. I mean she ran to the grass in the yard and stood there staring at me. I walked over to her, and she started jumping at me playing, so I decided to see what would happen. We had the best couple of minutes play that we have had in a… Continue

My little Chi Chi at 18 months is still in quite the chewy stage, and loves her Nylabones (the hard ones for energetic chewers). So far she has only put a bit of wear on the ends and only chews with supervision for about five minutes at a stretch. My friend reacted with alarm at Nylabones, saying they are dangerous, but I feel that they are fine for most small dogs with supervision.
Also I have given Chi Chi a moose antler (from my local natural foods pet store) which she really… Continue

Bella and I have been going on afternoon walks these past two days. It's warm and I've been worrying about Bella overheating or becoming exhausted, so I pick her up and carry her some of the way. Not so easy lugging around a 24 pound pug, but someone's got to do it. After a few blocks, Bella's sprightly gait seems to mock my exhaustion the moment I put her down.
Sure we get our share of stares and a few laughs, but it's a lot better than my pug collapsing. I'm not quite sure if… Continue

So...Bella is as spoiled as can be. We are working on it. She is quite aware that she is the princess around here, and such an energetic little thing. Right when I got home, she ran to the front room and started rolling around on the carpet. She kicked a bottle that was on the ground and bent down to confront it, then commenced her roll. Bella has been an extra funny girl lately. She makes me laugh so much, but she has become a little brat.
Sunday, we went to a coffee shop.… Continue

I'm trying to take pics of Pudge but he's so excited around me he has a hard time keeping still!
I had a MAJOR scare earlier. I let him out in the backyard to potty and then came inside to get my bag so I could go to the store. When I went out the garage someone had opened my side gate ( I know it wasn't me!) and I was immediately freaked that my precious baby had run off :( But! He's such a GOOD DOG that he was sitting on the steps of my side door!! I was so relieved to find him! He… Continue

Yesterday I had some errands to run so I was going to let Pudge into the backyard because I'm still not 100% sure if a massacre between him and the cats won't go down if I'm not around to supervise. Well, we go out the garage and he walks to my truck and tilts his head like "Please mom?" Being the sucker I am I said,"OK puppy let's go!" My favorite part was when we were in the drive though at Wendy's and the lady in front of me was taking… Continue

Well next week is the big day, Padrona is getting spayed! Her behavior has been really naughty the last few days. She is definitely showing signs of dominance and jealousy towards Pandora the last few weeks. She is almost due for her heat again so i am certain her hormones are playing a part in this naughtiness. Any advice would be helpful? Do any of the multiple pug owners deal with this… Continue

Tonight I gave Pudge his very first bath with me. I've had him for a week and a half while I've posted fliers trying to find his family. Well, no one ever contacted me so I am keeping him. He already has his own little bed. He's such a good boy! I have cats so I was worried about how them meeting a dog would go down and I'm glad that it went ok. So, I bring him in and he follows me everywhere so I go into my bathroom, point to the tub and say "Get it. Bath time" and into the tub he jumps. I… Continue

Wow, we had a very busy weekend! As you all know, we are moving into a new house we had built!! Our move in date is March 22nd, so we are heavy into the packing stage now. We sold some furniture this weekend (gotta love Craigslist) and they came and picked that all up this weekend.… Continue

So this morning I decided to give my three a bath so I had all three in the bathroom and started with Linus. He was no problem, didn't like it to much, but he let me scrub him and rinse him all with Miss Lizzy trying to get in with him. Linus is done, and I thought let me keep Lily for last, so emptied the water, and started all over again. Put Lizzy in, started to scrub, and here was that brave one trying to jump out ever chance she got. Anyway, rinsed her off and started to empty the… Continue

Why is it still raining! I hate the rain!! Mom makes me go out, though. I figured out that if I just stand there, pulling back on the leash and not budge, she will just pick me up and carry me over to the grassy area. (I can’t repeat what she said when she picked me up!!). Hey, I told her I didn’t want to go out!… Continue

Thanks for the warm welcomes thus far.
Hana seems to be doing fine thus far. She's not fully adjusted to her new life, though does seem to enjoy my company.
My major concern is giving her more attention. Unfortunately she's spent considerable time alone prior to arriving here, and sometimes a bit too much excitement for her, especially from me, I think. We're working on curbing thrills, as she can lose her head pretty quickly.… Continue

My hubby bought Hana at a pet shop about 10 years ago. She was likely the runt of the brood, and bears a protruding navel.
Mieko, my hubby and her daughter, fell in love with the little Puggie in the window as far as I know. Well, 10 years down the road with bladder infection and left leg joint disorders we thought it better Hanna have more attention and a better vet. Mieko was spending more time with me than Hanna and her adult son who had inherited the job.… Continue
