When to spay?

Started this discussion. Last reply by YOGI Mar 25, 2011. 15 Replies

Is 6 months old too young to spay?  My 4 year old pug was spayed at 2 years old, but her heat cycles were terrible and she had lots of other problems that came along with it, looking back it would…Continue

New baby in the house!

I've been going back and forth with the idea of adding a new pug baby to our family.  Well, we finally did it.  We've put it off for some time because of Lily's health issues and she needed our full…Continue

How many pugs does it weigh?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Pugman! Mar 28, 2010. 6 Replies

Just a random thought....My daughter and I were discussing using pugs as a method of measuring weight today.  In our case, how many "Lily's" do you weigh?  We think pugs should replace pounds so…Continue

Demodex?

Lily's vet did her skin scrape test today and it showed demodex.  From what I understand it's a mite that naturally lives on the skin of all dogs and humans, however when the immune system is low it…Continue

About my Pugs:
Lily is 4 years old and full of personality to say the least. She is so much fun and brings so much joy to our family. She never meets a stranger, and everyone she meets loves her. She's got me wrapped around her little puggy paw and is loved dearly! Then we have Lyla, she is our new baby pug who is only 10 weeks old but has more energy than I've ever seen. She's adorable and we love her but Lily's still adjusting to the idea of not having mom all to herself.

6 Weeks Post-Op

Posted on February 25, 2010 at 6:16pm 3 Comments

It has been just about six weeks since Lily had the mast cell removed from her belly, I can't believe it's been that long. Her incision was looking great, 2 weeks after surgery she had stitches removed and has been healing up very well, no redness or swelling, she looked great! There were 2 layers of stitches, one set on the inside that disolve a couple of months after surgery. We've been making frequent visits to the vet over the last 6 weeks for follow up and then of course we are now…

Am I stalking my vet?

Posted on February 4, 2010 at 5:27pm 11 Comments

Hello Friends,

I'm debating on if I should make yet another appointment with the vet again for Lily's rash. She finished up her second round of antibiotics yesterday and is being weened off of the steroids once again. After 2 rounds of antibiotics and way too many days on steroids there has been no significant changes in the appearance of her rash. She's not itcy, I'm sure that's because of the steroid, and I'm afraid that may change once we have a few days on the lower…

Stitches Out! Now what?

Posted on January 25, 2010 at 6:42pm 5 Comments

Yes, if you've read my status update Lily did get her stitches out today, and her incision looks great! She should be healed up in no time. I have to say she was quiet pathetic at the vet though. They were not hurting her in the least and she just looked at me and cried and whimpered, the tech had not even touched her yet and Lily whinned and cried and made all sorts of noises. The vet said he really thought she was trying to talk to me. I'm not so sure she wasn't. It was quiet a comical… Continue

The word police got me.  I like your new page.  Twirley changing software sure did get a nest of bees going.  I thought is was interesting listening to everything people had to say about it.  Actually, I wasn't liking too much myself before I realized that I could play with colours here which in the long run will help me decide which colours to use this summer to paint the house.  I'm liking the colours I've settled on, now all I need to do is make that final decision, then go for it.  Already have a bunch of people from church that have offered to come over and help out.  It will go really fast once started.  I talk too much......toodles.

Thank you Tammy for the present, fitting too!  Saw a dietician today and of course was told what I already knew, gotta cut out the fried foods, oh joy, it's only me and that's all I do.  She couldn't wrap it around her head that I eat real butter, yet kept saying that butter and margerine pretty much have the same amount of calories, so why not?  I'm supposed to not deep fry french fries anymore instead do something called spritz them and then bake them.  So I put some spritz stuff in an empty flea spray bottle and will have spritz fried/baked taters this evening.  More salads which means now I have to buy bigger bottles of blue cheese dressing.  I'm supposed to take the skin off the chicken first then cook it, I guess that means I'm now supposed to fry the skin seperate from the meat and then eat it all.  Doesn't make much sense to me doing it that way.  She didn't know what a turbo oven was, I thought that strange.  She also told me that from here on I am supposed to cook the bacon before I eat it.  And when I eat pancakes with syrup I"m supposed to cook pancakes also instead of just eating the syrup by itself.  I'm not going to survive this diet thing!  So Lyla is an official crazzzy now huh.  Misti and her I think would get along famously.  Misti is quite the talker and let me tell you she knows what time she is supposed to be fed and I had best be very prompt with the doing of it or there is not end to the chatter she puts up.  When she wants me to play with her instead of her siblings she also lets me know, if I don't pay her attention in a proper (to her) amount of time then she sets right there and stares at me and starts growling.  What a little brat!  I'll be betting Lyla is pretty much the same.  Aren't pups fun, especially the female one.  Now males on the other hand are calm, laid back, never destroy things and one can actually get up during the night and go to the bathroom without have to dawn full armour first. Yep Misti Dawn....The Destroyer

Hi Tammy and good morning to you all.  Have you picked Lyla up from the vet yet?  Please send update on her as soon as you can.  Give her lots of smoochies from me.  I would say hugs to but they might not feel good yet as I'm sure she is sore.

Hi Tammy, I'm just about ready to sign off but wanted to stop by and say that I really enjoy the pictures of have posted, I haven't commented on them as yet, but did want you to know that I have looked at them.  Bye for now.  I have deranged dogs that I must get seperated before they kill one another, the boys are having a dominance thing going on right now and it's starting to get nasty, there will be one boy per room and it will stay that way till I decide different.
