Rufus is undoubtedly the love of my life. He is such a cutie and has the biggest personality to match. I have never know a dog be so full of their own self importance, he makes me laugh! He really is a born entertainer and life has certainly never been dull since he came along. I can't imagine ever owning a different breed now, he has me hooked. He is the most loving, affectionate & sweetest little boy, I am totally smitten!
I seriously don't know what I would do without my little Roo bear

So excited!

Rufus could be featuring on a very limited edition range of gorgeous handmade clutch bags. The lovely lady who makes them had emailed to ask if I would mind if she used rufus as the model, I am so excited! I can't believe my own little Roo bear will be carried around by lots of different ladies all over the world.

The designer is working with some pictures and will have the fabric printed once she is happy with the background etc. I'll be sure to post some pics!

My little Roo's big day!

Rufus turns 5 on Wednesday, I can't believe it. It's got me feeling all nostalgic and emotional haha. I can't believe all that time has passed so quickly since bringing him home at 8 weeks old, the years have just disappeared.

Seems only yesterday I was feeling sick with excitement at the thought of bringing my puppy home and now my little baby boy is all grown up! I am not liking how fast the time with him seems to be going but he fills each day with love, laughter and happiness. He… Continue

I am in American heaven!

Our local Tesco (supermarket) has just opened an American isle and needless to say, I got a bit over excited.

I LOVE American sweets and was literally like a kid in a sweet shop...

I have bought butterfingers, pay day, a jar of reeces peanut butter, box of lucky charms cereal (this hasn't been out in the UK since I was a child) jolly rancher pop and best of all they now stock the 100% pure pumpkin for Rufus that I searched high and low for!

I can see my diet…

puggy quirks

Posted on August 28, 2012 at 12:57pm 12 Comments

I have been watching Rufus tonight and realised that he has quite a few random quirks...

he will only use the right hand side of the stairs to go up and down, never the middle, never the left..he is seriously going to wear the carpet out on that side lol.

he does not like to touch raw meaty bones/muscle meat with his paws, he would rather struggle than use his feet to steady his food so he can get a good chew on it.

he barks at ANY Lady Gaga song.

he just…

Thought I would let you know that the Vet gave him top marks for his eyes now just got to get the colour out of them. He agreed that we obviously needed to use the Fuciderm on his skin and suggested we continue for the next two days and then have a day off and on Saturday we start the Maxitrol which he says will remove the colour out. We have to go back on the 24th September. I hope you have good news with Rufus and that it is not too serious, honestly they are so used to these ops. Helena.

Hi Laura, Hektor still has a bit of goo in the morning, not green though and the one thing I was going to say is that he managed to remove one of his stitches. We had to take the Buster collar off so he could eat and one swipe did it. Hasn't really done any harm from what the Vet said. What has been the worst is his skin, because they shaved his neck he ended up with razor burn and this in turn went into an infection this needed Fuciderm cream which started him itching. I have done everything but he now seems to have wet eczema which means he is back on the Fuciderm again. He is supposed to get the steroid drops this week, so we will have to see what they say. Other wise I would not worry about the Entropion Op it seems to be a piece of cake. Needless to say my Vet was not going to refer him I had to insist after speaking to their locum. We will not be returning to them after this. Helena

Laura here I am again, I was looking for your information on Mark the Vet you consulted for Rufus and also the name of the food for another member  I have not yet found your e-mail to me with this information. Hope everything is well with you all. Hektor had an Entropion operation on both his lower eyelids and no thanks to the Vet we may be able to clear up his patches of colour on both his eyes.

Morning Laura, Hektor is still on holiday, coming back on Sunday evening whether he likes it or not or I will be broke. Should be finished by then, the tiles for the Conservatory arrived today so Gary my Tiler is going to try and get started today. Things are looking good, kitchen is finished and I have a really good working kitchen for the first time in this house. The main bathroom is finished, the ensuite is mostly finished. Gary is sealing it just now. Having to get a new mirror as the one we have is humming and vibrating fit to burst. The downstairs loo has been tiled just waiting on the plumber. The electrician is coming to fit my new fire and lights in the living room and hall. So as I said nearly done, now for the decorating, Oh joy. Sorry about Rufus, Hektor gets this off and on and I do not see it ever stopping. I hope his holiday has done him good and he will be nicer to know. Helena

Hi Laura, just asked Miriam is it is possible for her to keep him another day so hopefully I can get to work on the dust which is everywhere. Not possible to keep anything clean presently, not with walls down, underfloor heating going in tiling etc. I washed the new bathroom floor last night and looked at it a little while ago, looks like the mop, and I do mean the mop not the steam mop, will be working tonight again. I cleaned last Sunday and by Monday morning it was as bad. Looking good though, the kitchen is nearly finished, got everything working just the tiles to be grouted and a few little tweaks. I have got the joiner who did the kitchen to put in new doors, the old ones will not fit and they are such terrible quality that we though we might just replace them. My nosy neighbour is looking for a joiner so she came over to see if ours would do doors for her, she is desperate to see what is happening and Andrew is desperate not to let her. I am glad Rufus is fine again, we will hope the Spring Breakout will not be too bad. Hektor funny enough is worse in the Autumn. Helena

Hi Laura, presently I am Hektorless, he is away home boarding, It was too stressful for him with the coming and going and the noise and I was too worried he would vanish out an open door, so he is away up the road, actually not too far from me, with Miriam and Jetta (pictures can be seen). He has made a right mess of his neck, the first and last place for him and we had no facilities to get him clean. I think he is just like Rufus with the dust, which is the other reason he is not here. We did manage to get him clean at our friends house but he then got exposed to more dust. I have given Miriam is Miconozale to put on in the hope we can get him back to normal. He started itching in the other places just before he went to Miriam but I think in a clean environment he will be fine, just hoping I can get the place at least good enough for him, I may have to get Miriam to keep him for the Saturday as well next week, fingers crossed. This is costing an arm and a leg as it is adding to everything else, but nothing can be done, he needs to be away. I am glad Rufus is feeling better, and I looked up the food you are feeding, it does look better than anything else I have seen but still too worried to feed Hektor anything I have no control over and bought dog food is always problematic for me. I could see the need with Rufus though and if it had been Hektor I would have done the same.

Hi Laura, how is Rufus now, I have been worrying about him. Does the Vet know what brought this on? Helena

At 5:35am on January 11, 2013, Helena Brown said…

Hi Laura, Poor Rufus and the dreaded greys. I think the fawns are doomed with that as I said Henry was like Guido who looks much older than his years. Just to make him feel better my Husband used to say that it was like a silver backed gorilla, showed he was in charge. What is it with those ears, Hektor is the same, he was at the shaking the head yesterday afternoon. I popped some Canuaral in and he stopped, he has just woken up and that ear is getting it again.

We have not yet reached building site, wish we were. Still living with half the stuff in boxes. Half my kitchen tools are away. Andrew was asking about his Banana trees, I thought I knew where they were but no. Yes it is the same ship as last time, hoping we do not have paint smells in the cabin this time. We are going onto the other side of the ship but around the same bit so fingers crossed. It is in presently for an upgrade so it may be fine. Would hate to spend 24 days moaning hahaha.

No I must go and do the ironing, worst luck, I have been putting it off for days.

Helena

When you can't travel with your pugs ...

When traveling and can't take our babies with us we used to have a friend stay with them at the house. She let us know that they spend most of their time by the front door waiting for mama to come home. That broke my heart. Velma even tries to escape to "look for mama." One time it was many hours before she was found -- so so scary. Now we leave the girls at a friends house who has a doggie daycare. They do okay there but really keep to themselves/huddle together in a corner. I'm so conflicted.…See More
