The Sleepy Pug

What is it about the Pug, how many other dogs have their pictures taken sleeping? You come here and there are probably hundreds of pictures of Pugs taken by their proud owners, all of them asleep.
Now we all know that there is a soporific quality to the Pug. Their gently snoring sends out Z rays, at least they do in my house. When we first had Pugs we both worked outside the home but either my Husband came home for lunch or if he could not make it I did and on many a cold winters day we woul… Continue

Home Boarding

After three holidays with Handsome Hektor which he did not seem to enjoy we decided to try Home Boarding where he went to live with a carer, had a doggie holiday without us and did not have his routine upset.
This weekend we popped him into the car with all his stuff, bedding, bowls, toys and food and took him down to the carers home. This carer also has a dog of her own, a little Shih Tzu who is used to sharing his home with any amount of other dogs. We made this arrangement through a Girl we m… Continue

Bad Breeders

I am quite distraught about the young Pugs dying of PDE. This terrible disease has to be rooted out of the Pug population and the only way to do this is to ensure that when buying your puppy you ask questions. You MUST ask the breeder if there is any incidence of PDE in their line. If you dog has died of this disease you MUST tell your breeder, I know they may not be interested but you will have done your bit to inform so that they cannot say that they were not told (put this in writing) it is h… Continue

Hello Helena and Hektor!! Have you tried growing the tomatoes upside-down? Brent has mentioned that he had a lot of luck with them that way. I can see how that would work well since they grow so tall and then just break. You'll have to give that a shot and see how you do :-) I had to cut ours down to almost nothing after some rough winds knocked it over. Daisy and I had a nice walk around the park yesterday and she got to run with no leash for a while. She gets so excited!!! We're hearing there will be another warm up here and temps are supposed to get up into the 80's again.....yuk! Still not ready to pull out the summer clothes :-( I took some more pictures and will try to get them up here in the next few days. Hope all is well with you guys and give Hektor a big hug!!

Helena, I'm stunned! we have agreed upon something, the world is a better place already! hahaha. Thanks and I mean that. I know that I have the potential to be a bit satirical when it comes to humour, yet there are also times to be as forthright as possible, with perhaps only a tinsy bit of my 'I can't help it' humour in there. In short it does my heart good that not only can we disagree, but agree also. It does make conversations much more lively. I like to think that I am mostly wrong until proven right hahaha You have a super what's left of your day. looks as if we may be having a spot of sun here today, yesterday was yukky and cold. Hopefully not cold enough at night to decimate my little plants.

It is still a bit too soon I think, and I know it stems from my wishing, however it does look as though Malia's midriff is filling out somewhat. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Walker is such the boy (to me) that he should have some of him still here for the time he departs. He is getting up there.

Hello Helena and Hektor!! I was starting to get a little worried about you :-) but I figured you were just a little busy. Toby is doing fine and started to eat on his own a little yesterday. Still not back to normal but on his way. The girls are doing good and Augie seems to be getting used to Daisy a little more. It's been nice and cool for a few days and I love the brisk walks. We had a little rain on the weekend but nothing major so no sandbags :-) How are the potatoes doing? Any sprouts yet? Our tomato plant that was climbing up the garage wall so nicely got blown over in all the wind yesterday. I think I'm going to cut it down quite a bit since it is rather tall already and it's only March. I can't imagine how big it would be in August!! I don't want to start staking it this soon and would very much prefer it grow bushy instead of tall. My Mom's tomatoes always seem to grow out and ours grow up. Hers get a lot more sun and that makes all the difference. That's all from here :-) Hope all is well with you and give Hektor big hugs from us!!

Yeah.. I will buy new food for him and slowly change his diet starting tomorrow. I'm willing to try anything for his skin to get better.
