About Me:
My name is Carrie, and my husband is Kenny. We have two little boys, Landon is our six year old, and Evan just turned four. Our pug's name is Oscar, and he is about six months old
How many pugs own me:
About my Pugs:
Oscar is an unusual pug according to my vet, and he is the first pug I have ever owned. Oscar is called a Brindle colored pug which apparently is rare according to my vet. When finding this out I was interested in learning more, so I googled ( "brindle pugs", and a friend suggested other websites to search aswell. I discovered there is a lot of controversy surrounding these pugs, but they are starting be excepted by the ckc and akc clubs.
What makes Oscar even more unique is his white patch on his chest. The white markings were more common in black pugs, especially in the 1800s. Back then, pugs with white markings were favored by the Chinese, who interpreted the white patch as a sign of good luck. (For more info like this visit
Oscar does have one more feature that makes him stand that makes it hard to tell he is truly a pug. At 6 weeks of age, during his first vet appointment the doctor discovered Oscar's tail had been broken in two places. I was upset at the thought of my puppy being in pain but the doctor reassured me that this most likely happened during the time of birth and Oscar probably never felt a thing. But because of the two breaks, Oscar's tail will never completely curl like a pug's tail should.
So because of Oscar's strange appearence he is one very unique little pug...but it is his wonderful personality that has captured my heart. Oscar is the first pug I've ever owned, but he will be the first of many more that my husband and I will one day adopt!

Brindle Pugs

Posted on July 31, 2009 at 7:04am 1 Comment

I've been asked a lot of interesting questions about my pug resently. Several of the question I did not have an answer to, so I've done some research. Thanks to Google. com and a few other websites that friends have suggested I take a look at...I discovered there is a huge debate about the origin of the brindle pug. There is far to much information for me to try and pass along through a blog, so if your interested in the subject you can "google" brindle pugs, or visit… Continue

Poor little Oscar, some breeders deserve a good hiding. I could have cut my fingers off after I sent you that message as I would not offend any Pug owner, you are all too special. After I wrote to you, I read the information sent to you by Isabel, funnily enough my Henry ( my previous dog) his Mother was a silver. His two brothers were also silver and very marked, not like a brindle but going that way. So I can see how brindle Pugs are arrived at, though here I rather imagine if this colour turned up, breeders would not breed from the dog or bitch as I said, it would not be acceptable to the Kennel Club. Oscar looks a lovely dog, so sweet and cuddly. I have never met a Pug who is not lovely, who I would not take home and your lucky to live as far from me as you do, cos I just might pinch him. I think he would turn quite a few eyes here in Scotland. Regards Helena and Hektor xxxxx

He is a lovely little thing but he would not be acceptable here in the UK as this looks like something strange happened in his families past. If it happened here he would be classed as a crossbreed, I hope that a. you were not charged the full price for him? but B. that you love him anyway. Regards Helena and Hektor xxxx

Hektor with Jetta and Cara

"Looking back at my boy's life, sad that his friend Jetta died very young. She had bad legs and very Mich else wrong. Hektor could be said to have been an elderly gentleman when he passed on."
