About my Pugs:
Pema came first as a 11 week old puppy adopted from a breeder. That was in August 2009. What a life-changer!
Karma is 4 years old. I adopted her from Wasatch Animal Rescue in mid-June 2010. She was a breeding momma in a puppy mill in Missouri.
If you look at the 2 of them you might think Karma is the puppy because she is so small and Pema so pug-chubby. But then you would notice her grey chin and muzzle and very skinny body and know that she is the older. and has a hard life.
Don't remember when I wrote that or joined .... anyway, I got a fawn female puppy 11 weeks old from a breeder in Augsut 2009. She fractured a back leg trying to jump up on their couch at the breeders day before I was to get her. They offered to return $$$ but I said "No" she's mine. Vet manged healing of fracture without surgery. She was spayed and has done very well - now 13 months old. Her name is Pema. 5 days ago I took a Momma pug rescued from a puppy mill ... she is about 4 years, unspayed and very mal-nourished, has "fat feet" deformed pads from being held for long time in mesh bottom cages, and very fearful and scared. She was in heat when I got her, had been in a foster home but not fully house trained. Her muzzle is gray due to premature aging. The second day I felt despair, thinking she might not get over her fears of humans (dogs okay with her). But happy to say, she is progressing spendidly, lets me pet her, very slowly and carfully. Much of progress is due to Pema's slow but persistant loving interactions and encouragment. I named the new pug "Karma".

Hi Ann just read your bio and looked at your pics of the pugs. They are precious ones. Kudos to you for rescuing Karma. How is she adjusting now that you have had her a while? We rescued a Jack Russell Terrior in Jan. that had been horribly abused and neglected. Extremely fearful and agressive. It took some major doing and time, had to take it very slow at her pace. But she eventually came around and I was able to find her a new 4-ever home. Would have liked to keep her but different from Karma she warmed up to us but never to our pugs and cats. So that being said I think Karma should do just fine.
