Don't remember when I wrote that or joined .... anyway, I got a fawn female puppy 11 weeks old from a breeder in Augsut 2009. She fractured a back leg trying to jump up on their couch at the breeders day before I was to get her. They offered to return $$$ but I said "No" she's mine. Vet manged healing of fracture without surgery. She was spayed and has done very well - now 13 months old. Her name is Pema. 5 days ago I took a Momma pug rescued from a puppy mill ... she is about 4 years, unspayed and very mal-nourished, has "fat feet" deformed pads from being held for long time in mesh bottom cages, and very fearful and scared. She was in heat when I got her, had been in a foster home but not fully house trained. Her muzzle is gray due to premature aging. The second day I felt despair, thinking she might not get over her fears of humans (dogs okay with her). But happy to say, she is progressing spendidly, lets me pet her, very slowly and carfully. Much of progress is due to Pema's slow but persistant loving interactions and encouragment. I named the new pug "Karma".
