Fleas and ticks aren’t your only concern, though they are major worries. You also need to think about worms, such as hookworms and roundworms. How do you keep your Pug away from worms and other parasites? Consult your vet and use flea and tick repellent such as Frontline or whatever product you and your vet like better.
Don’t take ticks carelessly either, no matter where you live. Ticks can certainly be found in the actual jungle of Manhattan and in any silent suburb, too. To reduce the risk of worm infections clean up your Pugs’ litter tray as many times as necessary to keep it hygienically right. Worms such as Hookworms for example can be found in the stool, and their eggs can lay latent in the grass for as long as a year so you want to make sure you reduce that risk as much as possible.
Don’t forget about Mosquitoes either. Don’t spray your Pug with bug repellant when you take him outside, but do spray yourself and stay close to your Pug at night when the Mosquitoes come out.
If you, as a pug owner, smoke than you may turn out to be one of his worst parasites. This isn’t an anti-smoking speech designed for smokers. If you want to smoke, then go for it. It’s your life and your health. But please do your Pug a favor and smoke someplace he isn’t. If your pug is inside, go outside or at least go into another room. Pugs have enough trouble breathing as it is because of their nose, and they really don’t need breathing to be even trickier.
