thanks guys..already found more help here than i did on fb..all they did was freak me out...feel better knowing i have help here..thankyou guys x
Hi Melissa, yes I am here too, Hektor is a Big Boy who has a tendency to get bigger at the drop of a hat. He has allergies which means he is on a restricted diet, his favourite titbit is cucumber and as it is mostly water he can eat almost an unlimited amount, the other thing many Pugs love are all sorts of fruit, but keep that to a minimum other wise the main stay of the dieting Pug is raw carrot. i would definitely go along with Tania though and just little walks until she loses the weight and lots of love and encouragement , She deserves it.
thankyou..yea shes had a rough time and now wree going through the first ulcer experience which scares me too..though this is her 3 rd day with drops and things are slowly improving..the greyness of her eye is not so promniant,,its there still but not so bad..as for tit bits..i dont do it..but my hubby is a terrible offender for that..but he has cut down after i moaned at him!! flossy is so sweet..be lost without her x
Hi Melissa, I see you have been through the mill with Flossy, I personally don't think you should get too concerned if she is overweight, so long as she is not huge.
Nearly all the pugs on this forum are overweight, mine is!
Try to get her to take small walks slowly and build from there, try not to feed her between meals. jeez did I just say that? I am the worst for doing it!
Believe it or not pugs love to go walks, some go long distances, some don't..
Reading her history that you gave us, I think loads of love, strokes and kisses is the best things you can do to make her happy.
Hope this helps.
Tania
hello..new to your forum..flossy has been with us since january..she is 5 and over weight..she hates walking..mainly coz the people who had her before she was rescued bred her like mad..and carried her every where..since being with us..she has been spayed and hed her hernia fixed..she is however over weight so any advice is much appreciated!
Here is a video I made on RAW food and snacks:
Does anyone know of any low calories pug friendly snacks. Lily was getting apple slices a d baby carrots but the vet said that those are both high in natural sugar and could lead to doggy diabetes :(
Lily was given to me and my mother helps take care of her because dialysis can sometimes wear me out. Poor mom is legally blind and she got the measurements wrong and was feeding her a cup extra of food every day. Poor baby went to the vet and she is 5 pounds overweight :( We switched her to wet food because it is mostly water the vet said and cut her snacks and she lost a pound but we still have a way to go. Wish us luck!
I am back boasting, Hektor is now 11.35Kilos. Going down slowly but steadily. Cannot find that layer of fat he used to have. Now I need to go on his diet.
Hektor is now 11.45 Kilos, hooray. I was so sure he had put on weight. Helena.
