I noticed quite a lot of pugs having skin rashes or red dots issues. Many owners have gone through headaches to find cure for this little cutie. I thought it'll be good to share a summary of what was done so that it'll benefit pug owners who're facing this problem. What we can do is share the followings:
a) pug's name & age, b) what are the problems c) action taken d)findings & results. Let me starts with Bubbly

1. a)Bubbly-6 months old. b)Red dots & rashes. Keep scratching all the time. c)Visited the vet-bacteria infection on her skin-prescribed antibiotic-change food to Acana lamb&apple d)Red dots & rashes reduced to 10% within 2 weeks. Less scratching now. Still monitoring her

Hi Joshua, Well done with the new thread. I believe that this will help a lot of pugs owner who are facing the same issue with Bubbly and Hugo. Since yesterday, i am so happy to see the red dots reduced so much and hardly can see him scratching. I hope that he can recover fast so i can bring him to meet the rest of puggies outside especially Bubbly.

Below are my experiences with Hugo skin issue.
1. He is on Science plan kibble and notice that he begin to have red dots. Then i bring him to see vet. Diagnosed with Parasite attack and ear mites. Under medications and his condition improved. I bought different types of shampoo to improve his condition but the skin problem is still there.
2. once he finished his medication, i change his kibbles to Acana (Same manufacturer as Orijen) I though that he is allergy to Science plan and Acana would help but the condition getting bad. " Bare in mind that different dog/ pug has different immune system, Acana may be suitable for your pug).
3 i change his food to Natural balance, Fish and sweet potato. surprisingly his skin improved but still showing rashes. Then i get a bottle of supplement (Liquid form which i mixed with his kibble), very high in Omega 3 and 6. within few days Hugo's skin Improved so much! Furs getting nicer. So happy to see his condition now and hope that he will fully recover.
4. At the same time i bath Hugo's with medicated shampoo and oatmeal+Alo Vera Shampoo as the medicated one smell like hospital kekekek.

Now, i am still monitoring him. Overall, i am very happy to see his condition now.
Thanks to Joshua for his advice.
hi joshua,

my pug also experiencing same skin problem (red dots & rashes) when i just got him back at 4 mths old. Visitation to vets only show temporary solution & it came back few weeks later. Vet suggestion i try other brand of kibbles. I have tried up to 4 - 5 different type of kibbles until i stop at the current brand when the red dots no longer coming back. Maybe u can try if it work for your pug.
Casey, Do share with us what is the current brand of kibble that u r giving to your pug.
i m feeding both my dogs Blackwood @ lamb
well, maybe i would try it as well. Now Hugo condition is 96% red dots free.
I don't understand why, based on the food review that Blackwood is really low quality product but seems like it is fine with dog. Casey, can you share with us how long have u been feeding your dog with Blackwood?
I cut all treats :)
Hi Simon, I do the same thing as well. The treats that i am giving to my dog is his kibble.
Hahahah,
Yeah... i've switched him to Science Plan... getting better now...not so itchy & have smooth & shiny fur.
science plan? not suitable for my hugo. itchy
Diff dog react differently to food cause there are diff type of risk factor. Hill's also have Prescription Diet d/d and z/d, which is diff type of nutritional approach against skin disease. You may check with the vet. Coz Snigger doesn;t has a serious skin problem and it has reduce alot of itchiness eversince i switched him to SP and cut his treats. But he is definitely allergy to beef.
hi brian,

i started feeding him blackwood around 7th mth...he is now 6 years old. Now visitation to the vet is only nail cutting & vacination...

When you can't travel with your pugs ...

When traveling and can't take our babies with us we used to have a friend stay with them at the house. She let us know that they spend most of their time by the front door waiting for mama to come home. That broke my heart. Velma even tries to escape to "look for mama." One time it was many hours before she was found -- so so scary. Now we leave the girls at a friends house who has a doggie daycare. They do okay there but really keep to themselves/huddle together in a corner. I'm so conflicted.…See More
