I have named our little pug puppies German names ~
our male's name is Maynard
(old family name .... my son is so relieved that his
Dad would not let me name him Maynard and my sister
was relieved she was a girl LOL ) and our little
female's name is Matilda. Maynard and Matilda just
seemed to sound good together ....
I refer to them as our little M&Ms.
Comment by Debra on September 11, 2012 at 6:16pm Our mother pug is named Wednesday (the day she was born, and because her mate was Pugsley) so when her litter was delivered on Tuesday that became the name of the only female puppy. Her brothers -- Bruiser and Hulk -- were so much bigger and pushier than she was that they quickly earned their names.
Comment by Karen Ciskowski on September 11, 2012 at 5:38pm Frank, from the MIB movie and Big Hoss is from Pawn Stars plus he is really a BIG Hoss!
Comment by The Wee Woman on April 3, 2012 at 4:52am Love the names Chadd and Katie, specially Norma Jeane/Marilyn. Lani Kai seems very appropriate for a Pug who is associated with the beach on Hawaii.
Our fawn pug is named Lani Kai ('Heavenly Sea' in Hawaiian) because she was born on the day we were on that beach in Hawaii.
Our new little girl is named Norma Jeane; we call her Marilyn (Monroe) when she starts getting a little crazy. Its kind of a Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde thing for a girl.
Comment by LA Pug Mom on February 20, 2012 at 7:54pm Really enjoyed your story, Ang! Does Mars like Moo Shu?
Our pug is named Juniper Lola. Our first dog (Toy Australian Shepherd) is named Marsey "Mars" Moo Shu. We were then going to name our 2nd dog Jupiter, to follow our planet theme...we knew we would shorten then name and call her Jupi...so then my other half said the name Juniper, we can call her Juni...I liked Juni MUCH better than Jupi (it is such a great pug name too)....so it stuck...I also loved the name Lola but it was too common for us (and being Mars is such a different name) so we decided it could be her middle name...so there ya have it Juniper "Juni" Lola!!!
Comment by LA Pug Mom on January 30, 2012 at 7:57pm Okay, my initial post never made it... so here's our story:
Isabella Luella Tracy-Tovah is my pug's full name. Here's her story...
Like Melissa, I don't have human kids, so I have my cat, Max, and my pug, Isabella, who bear my favorite names. I knew before I got my pug that it would be Izzy, because if it was a he, it would be Isadore. Luella goes perfectly with Isabella... and it means "Little Elf" -- and my girl is tiny and full of mischief! Tracy is her godmother (who is also a pug mom) and Tovah is my Hebrew name. It works for us!
Comment by LA Pug Mom on January 30, 2012 at 7:50pm Interesting Helena... and great new post, Melissa!
Izik and Malakai got their names from Children of the Corn. Izik is my black baby and Malakai is my fawn baby. They are nothing like the kids from the movie, I just have like the names since I was a kid and said that if I ever had kids that would be their names. Needless to say I haven't had any human kids so I named my pug babies that. So that is the story of how and where I got their names. I changed the spelling to throw people off. I call Malakai, Mals or Mali and Izik, Z. I used to call him eyes but then he lost one and i couldn't really call him Eye.
