What Words, Commands Or Phrases Does Your Pug Know & How Can You Tell?

I was just wondering what words, commands or phrases your pug(s) recognizes and how you can tell.?

Mr. Foo knows:

mamma & mamma's home, where's mamma - He looks for me or go to the door to see if I am home and everyone says he gets super exited at those words

gramma & gramma's here - He goes to look for my sister

Where's Sis? - He will go find my daughter

Where's Bubba? - He'll go find my son

Where's Daddy? - He'll go find my husband

Go get Grrgey - He goes and gets his stuffed toy dog

Outside? - He gets excited and if he is sleeping when you say it, he jumps up and starts heading for the kitchen to go out.

Sit, stay, away, crate, pray,Amen!, hand, other (for other hand), dancing with the stars, Pow!, give kisses - these are all associated with tricks, except for sit, stay, away, and crate.

Words Mr.Foo REFUSES to understand:

Enough kisses! - Every day, at every opportunity I am kissed from my chest to the top of my forehead, over and over again. (I love it!)

No! - He just tilts his head and looks at me like, "You've got to be kidding me, right?"

Settle Down! - "What mamma? I'm racing around like my tail's on fire and I can't hear you. Settle what? Do, huh? Wait till I come back around again and tell me. I missed it this round."

Lisa that is really adorable.
I'm afraid my little Lola Belle has "selective listening"...
Lola only seems to understand the words hungry and food - lol ;)

Mr. Foo sounds like a very smart dog!! Daisy doesn't know nearly that many but here's the ones she does know:

Dinner, Breakfast, and Foofee--she knows it's time to eat
cookie--she gets treats
walkie--she will go over to her leash and cry and then go over to my walking shoes and make some more noise
where's Augie??--she goes looking for the kitty
what is it??--she starts barking and runs to the door
gonna get you--she goes berserk and runs in circles

I'm not even going to get started on the things she doesn't understand....sit, drop it, heel, you get the picture :-) she is a very independent girl. Almost forgot....she does know "drop it!!!!" It means run as fast as you can away from Mommy.

Mr. Foo sure is smart!

Elroy understands quite a few things too!

Walk? - he gets super excited and runs to the door
Are you Ready? - same reaction, only he knows we are leaving somewhere in the car
want dinner? - he goes and stands near the fridge
Where's Charlie? - Charlie is his best dog friend. He will run around looking for Charlie, and start to whine
Get the kitty - he'll try and chase my cat, Molly, who loves to play with him
Bedtime - he'll go over to his bed and lay down

He also knows: Sit, Stay, crate, toy, lamby (his fav toy), down, okay, and of course... treat! lol

He doesn't know any tricks, other than he can catch a treat if one is tossed to him. :)

Sounds like Elroy understands quite a few things too. I've been trying to teach Mr. Foo to catch his Grrgey (toy) when it is tossed to him, but so far he has only done it once. I don't think he bother trying to catch a treat. He'd just wait for it to hit the floor and then gobble it up. I'd teach him to snach a treat balanced on his nose, but hey!, he's a pug, he doesn't have much of a nose! lol

Oh you are so right about a pug's interpretation of "drop it!" Mr. Foo thinks it means, "I've got a sock and I need to run away faster!"

Hi M & J, I was just reading this post again and thinking about Daisy and Augie. It's neat that they have each other. Growning up we had a pom and a tom cat in the house and I remember how attached they were to each other. When my cat was killed unexpectantly, our little pom grieved for weeks. It was so sad. I sometimes wish Mr. Foo had a playmate, but a cat is out of the question. My hubby and son are both very allergic to them.

Hektor is quite smart, he understands sit very well, stay not quite as well. We never got to lie down. He recognises names, if I tell him that his friends Chang and Ling are around he perks up and looks for them, he is the same with his other friends Bramble and Bruce. He knows the words for breakfast lunch and dinner ( doesn't every Pug). He know my name, because his Daddy uses it when he is waiting outside shops for me. He sometimes knows NO depending on his mood. He is bright enough to know when to be bright and when to be stupid. My Husband always says that Pugs are the brightest dogs in the world, they are not daft enough to get everything right.
