The Fold....
Looking for advice on keeping my pug's folds on his face clean.....right now I just use an antibacterial soap. He is very prone to infections there so I am constantly taking him to the vet and paying for visit after visit. Vet says he has allergies that cause the infections to happen on his face and in his ears. I have started him on a brown rice/plus protien diet in hopes it will help his body chemistry. Has anyone had these same issues?

You can try to wipe between the folds of his skin softly with a warm washcloth, q-tips, or cotton balls. You may want to try sterile water instead of antibacterial soap.
Many pugs are prone to allergies, you can go through this skin allergies topic and read what others have been through.
I think you did the right thing taking him to the vet. Keep us posted with your pug's goings.

There is an antibiotic/fungicide powder that you can use in the folds and ears to keep the moisture from building up. My girlfriend is a master groomer and she uses it all the time. It works well according to her. I can find out the name of it for you if you would like.

I use Huggies wipes with no scent to keep my pug's wrinkle clean and debris free. Also a diet with of chicken breast, oats and veggies will keep your pug healthy.

I agree with coco as i make my own dog food with rice,chicken and vegetables which i steam their veggies but,i'm always cleaning these guys their folds and ears and i keep their teeth brushed but,so far their folds have been fine and their check-ups go fine as well.

My Ripken gets a fungus in his fold and I have to keep it clean- he has a VERY deep fold- I got a steriod cream from the vet and what I do is wipe the fold with warm water and the dry it best I can then apply the cream (antimax).. It has helped so much- I know its bothering him when he starts licking his front paws- then I know time to clean again- I do keep up on it but if he is out side and/or gets wet have to do it more...
