My poor Milo has a bad eye, now im strapped for cash and really want to go to a vet asap but first i want your advice, seeing as youre all pug owners like myself :) Now everytime my mum takes care of My milo he seems to end up like this! Last time probably a month ago his eye was exactly like this, i bathed it but couldnt afford a vet at the time and as soon as i had money it got better. completely, other than that little dent thing.. now i come home last night after my mum was babysitting my daughter and milo and he was shivering bu ti thought nothing of it, thought he was tired ( i got home late ) but today ive noticed his eye is red and gooey again and its cloudy yet again! I really want to take him to the vet but just want a little advice first.. i amg oing to take him..but any experience?? Hes only 4 :/ i feel terrible...

When you go to the vet ask about glaucoma. Is it swollen?A wipe rinse a few times a day could help until you can get to the vet.Does he go to your moms house or is she watching him at yours? He could be allergic to something at moms.Or maybe your daughter has accidentally hit him in the eye with a toy?A saleine rinse..Hope its nothing serious.

shes not able to do alot by herself yet so i don think it could be her. might be the kitten! first time it was at mums 2nd time mine. wondering if it was his bed too its a wicker bed with fabric covering and pillows and dont know iif hes scratched it on wicker.. no idea but ill get hm checked out asap :( its very red and wet might be a little swollen i knbow it was first time

The reason I said glaucoma is that my Bella who at 10 got it.Im not sure if younger dogs get it very often though. When you take pictures as the one you posted does the other eye have that light blue circle around it?I can really see that in Bellas eye in pics.So I watch for it in her other eye.Butt with glaucoma the inter ocular pressure builds up and swells the eye.I know we worry so much about our pugs!He probably just bumped it or have just a slight infection.

the other eyejust has a normal blue circle when i take a picture with flash on but you can see what the bad ones like :(

First off, don't blame yourself.  It won't help Milo or you.  I did the same thing when my poor little Zoe got an eye infection and it ended up being too late to save her eye.  I really beat myself up over it.  This stuff happens.  Now I don't want to scare you, but it could be an abscess, infection from a scratch of some kind.  I found Zoe's so late it had eaten right through the eye.  I usually would check her out every couple days, but I got so busy at that time.  I didn't notice until she was shaking and it was very painful.  I think the cat scratched her eye.  The dogs hide their injuries so well.  But eyes can be saved with meds, I think you have to get him in to the vet ASAP.

One good thing though is even if he has to lose an eye I guarantee he will be just like your old Milo, just with a pirate patch!  He won't even miss a step.  I felt so bad for my Zoe and guilty, but she was her wonderful self after the operation.  Nothing changed.  She was like it never happened.  Dogs adapt to whatever their condition is so wonderfully unlike a lot of us humans.

Good luck with Milo, I'll be thinking of him and try not to worry yourself too much.  I know its hard and nothing I saw is going to help much, but try.

thankyou, ill try and go tomorrow but not sure how im going to afford it but ill try ill see what i can do for the poor puggy :)

So any news on Milo?  How is the eye doing?

Just seeing this, did you try some over the counter eye drops, you know the saline kind.  I used them a couple times when Lily and her sister had red bloodshot eyes, it helped

I think this needs the Vet  it looks like an ulcer but only the Vet can tell you.

thanks all.. it was gone two days after i wrote this dont get why he gets it so often but hes A ok right now ....

Sorry everyone, it's an eye ulcer he has! He's having eye drops 3x a day, but may need surgery :/

I hope he doesn't Sophie, the drops work really well in most case though I know that my Angus had to have his eye sewn shut twice because of bad ones. Hope he gets on well. Helena

"Update my boy milo still has them and is 10 soon. Raw diet calms the severity and frequency but he had one just now. He spaced out, got dizzy and flopped over onto his side. Went rigid for ten seconds and back to normal"
