Hey everyone

I joined this site yesterday and so far have found it very informative and helpful.

I bought my pug pup Billie-Joe a week and a half ago, he was four weeks old then, and so obviously I can't bring him home til he's ready which will be the 20th march. 17 days to go and its driving me mad!

Just wondering what you guys did as far as sleeping arrangments go...did you let your puglets sleep in your bed with you?

Hi Steph, you can allow him to sleep with you right away or you can hold off. Bottom line, you may as well make a spot for him in bed right away, that's is where he will end up anyway, give in now, you don't have a chance, he will be in bed. hahaha. Do I ever know that wait...it's been years for me now, but I still remember wanting to burst at the seams and each day waiting seemed to be longer and longer. You must have pictures for us, have someone with you when you pick him up, start getting pictures from the very first moment, you will treasure them always. Do have fun!

Hi, thanks for replying. :)

So I think I'll just have him in my bed from the first night then, might be easier, and plus I'd rather he was on my bed, I'd feel calmer about his first night home then for sure anyway.

I've never had a pug before but my previous dog, a short legged jack russel used to sleep on my bed, I remember him taking up most of my bed however and he wasn't much bigger than a pug so that'll be fun! Haha.

And yes I have pictures from him from 4 weeks old as thats how old he was when we bought him, he is now nearly 6 weeks, his mom and dads owner sends me new pictures of him every sunday night until I go pick him up, so the next pictures he will be 6 weeks old and that'll be on sunday and I'll upload the pics.

I have some pics of him on here already at 4 and 5 weeks old, can't believe how much he changed in a week.

And yes, I am bursting at the seams with excitment, counting down the days.

Well, just remember new puppys can not hold there potty all night long..So unless you want to wash your bed linen every day you might want to wait a couple months on that sleeping with you..:) Ive always waited till mine were at least 4-5 months old,got tired of washing a king sized comforter.Soon i will have 3 on the bed with me!! MY poor husband..lol

I have both, I have a crate with a bed in it, in a "play pen" area closed off by baby gates...and I let my pug puppy (4 months old) sleep with me. I started off wanting my pug to only sleep in the crate because I knew it was for the best, especially since puppies can't hold their bladders very long. However, lucky me, my puppy can hold hers all night. And sometimes I get lonely. But now she can do both, sleep on her own or with me.

I agree...I did exactly the same thing!
luckily my molly has been able to hold on all night, even from night 1 :)
she loves her bed, but also loves mine! i still dont trust her 100% to not pee, so normally I let her sleep with me for most of the night, and then put her in her bed when im really asleep!
the breeder told me to put her in a seperate bed because then she learns who is dominant, although i think regardless she thinks she is human haha :P

I had Lola Belle sleep in a crate on my nightstand because I was afraid she would pee on my bed...
Now she sleeps w/ me next to my 2 cockers. The king size bed is not as big as I thought it would be :)

Ok, Timmy is 6 months old. I got him when he was 2 months old (never owned a pug or a dog before). First day we put a lil bed outside our room with his wee wee pads (he was somewhat pad trained) and a furry toy. First 2 nights he slept thru all night without crying, 3rd night on he cried ALL night! We bought him a lil house (crate type) and put it inside our room. I woke up every 3 hours to let him go pee at his wee wee pad and it worked! No more weeps! He still sleeps with us inside his crate and if he wanna go potty he hits the crate door with his paw, I wake up and let him go pee! He stills don't get on his crate by himself, we have to put him, but he knows when is sleep time and he just surrender!! Haha. Lots of love, patience and practice! Enjoy your puggy, they are awesome!!

I think it says in the Pug Manual that pugs are automatically entitled to sleep with humans!

Hektor sleeps beside my bed in his own bed, he is close enough so that I can touch him and comfort him if he ever needs it, and he never has as he is a good sleeper. He also has a bed at my Husband's side. We find this is very acceptable because we would worry if he fell out of bed and hurt himself.
