Social network for pugs and their people.
So.. new guy in pugslife, dont know how i managed to get in here, but the general idea of a pugs social network seems great!! Gonna introduce myself, my little baby girl and what we like to do.
Ok, My name is Max, original from the Sonora state in Mexico but been living a while in Mexico City for the last 5-6 years now.. Always been in love with pugs, always wanted one! Problem was that Sonora is one of the hottest states in the country (avg temp will be around 40 to 45, sometimes even 50-55 Celsius in the shadow!! That will be around 120-125 F avg) which will be terrible for this breed.. So i ended up with a tiny Chihuahua for a couple of years (Mia, RIP). She born with a hearth disease, it was too small even tho she was too tiny (mini toy breed) and doctors said she wouldn't last, despite that I managed to give her the best 6 years of her life until one day puff! Don't worry she didn't suffer..
I moved to Mexico City a year after that, finished school and started working. My girlfriend came to Mexico City after a year or two of my graduation and we been living together ever since (12 wonderful years on this relationship on December!) After the first couple of months living together i convinced her that a Pug was the best idea for out little house, and what you know my evil plan worked :D
My baby girl was the last one to be born from a litter of 6 beautiful pugs.. pre-owners were tempted to sacrifice her since she was a little hard to maintain, she was bullied by her puppy brothers and ended up with a terrible eye disease (i believe one of her brothers bite her in the eye while playing) and they weren't giving her the proper medication. After a couple of talks, i went for her once she ended her 5 weeks old and started to take care of that eye.
To be honest it wasn't easy, drops every 2 hours, medication, she also had some breathing problems.. in what felt forever at last i managed to save her, gave her all her shots and been living a happy life ever since that.
Now, what you thinks about my story :D
Anyone of you feeling like sharing yours?
Oh Snaps! Forgot to mention our fun activities!
Sometimes i take her to do some hiking with us (we have a nice national park an hour from here which is great, lots of trees, cute small rivers, lots of sticks to fetch!), we also play a lot on a small park a couple of blocks from home, love to play on the kids zone (honestly shes just like another kid..), love to climb the slide, there are some small blocks that she love to jump off, run with the kids, barks like crazy, etc..
At least once a week i take her to a small place (actually a monument) we have in here with some climbs to play some fetch! We throw the ball from the top and she runs all the way down and bring it again, lots of exercise, vet say she is too healthy!
what else.. bike trips and pet shops! think that about it, but its lots of fun! :D
Start again, I just had to look at your picture and lost the whole of my comment. Hello Max and your lovely lady. We are a funny bunch, we come from everywhere in the world. From China, through Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, all the way through India and into Europe where they are a comparable old breed being introduce into England in the 17th Century. We, Hektor and I are in Scotland though he has a very mixed pedigree being that his Dad travelled to England from Ohio and his Mum is related to Pug Royalty in Britain and Germany.
Your girl is so lucky to have you and your persistence, eye's are one of the Pugs weakest bits, mine has had an operation for Entropion which means for the first four years he had persistent irritation of the eye and he required as we say, plastic surgery to remove it by easing the eyelids/eyelashes away from his eyes. This has left him with a film over one eye and he is getting drops to thin it out, but the fact that you saved your little girls eye is superb.
I hope you will become a fixture with us, so many pop in have a problem and pop out, we need everyone who is interested in the breed to help others.
Your wee girl sound so much fun, Hektor is calming down, never thought I would say that, but he is seven now and unlike my two previous Pugs has been a right tearaway.
It's great that you managed to save her. We had a similar thing with the eye getting infected, it was very scary so I can relate! We caught it in time, and our little Ninja still has the scar to prove it.
Nice to meet you and welcome to the site. This is the best resource for all pug questions and we love to look at each others' pug pictures. :0)
