I follow the Midwest Pug Rescue on Facebook. They've just taken in a pug with a docked tail. When you think of the pug, the curly tail is one of the first things that come to mind. I don't understand why someone would do that. The MPR does good work but they are taking in a lot of pugs in poor health. Most of them of course come from puppy mills in Missouri which may need to change it's name from the "Show Me State" to the "Puppy Mill State" (no offense to those of you in Missouri).

Poor little guy!  This makes me so sad.  I have always wished that I can take in all of the special needs dogs.  It just breaks my heart.

I feel the same as you. I've been tempted to take in a few over the past few months but end up listening to my head over my heart. Here's a link to the Midwest Pug Rescue's list of adoptable pugs. I post it just so everyone can see how many pugs are coming in from Missouri. It's unreal.

Actually, that's where Mimi and Nala are from - Missouri!  I drove 5hrs with my in-laws!
Poor babies, I just checked out the site...Humperdink is blind and deaf!  I can't even imagine!  It's so sad because you know that all of the puppies and "perfect" ones go first.  I'd love to help out with the older ones or special needs ones.  It would be so sad knowing that your time is limited with them but bitersweet at the same time because at least they lived the last years of their life well.
This is so Victorian, they thought docking the tail made the wrinkle deeper. This is a part of a dogs spine, how would you like that. We have much the same trouble with Wales, there are more Puppy Farms as we call Puppy Mills there than nearly anywhere in the UK. We do have a problem with Ireland as well with Dogs being brought over to the UK. I too would not like to cause offence to the many decent people in either country, we have had some very bad breeders, if you call them that, here in Scotland too. When money making raises it's ugly head there are heartless people everywhere.
Of course the tail is such a pug thing! Bella had hers batted around by a cat this weekend and my cousins kept on calling it "The Cinnamon Bun". If only we could do away with all puppy mills, but people keep buying the puppies, so the mill breeders will keep committing crimes against pets. I think a lot may have to do with lack of education, I didn't know where pet store puppies came from until I was around, 17? Or actually, more like 18 or 19. Even then, when people think of puppy mills, some may imagine the conditions to be far better than reality. I used to think puppies came from farms like on the movie Babe, not anymore.

Well my beautiful baby pug has no tail..! It's not been docked and he is a full pedigree, both his parents were seen as were his brothers and sisters. I was told it may grow, however he is nearly 6mths now and no sign of it. I contacted the breeders and the other pups tails are in evidence.

I don't mind though to be honest, my beautiful boy is still perfect to me and it makes him even more unique. He is sat at my feet now and as I look at him there is not a thing i would change. :-D Sir Henry is perfection. x
