Snortly would fit any pug :)

My pug is named "Napoleon". My fiance and I chose this name because (1) fiance loves the movie "Napoleon Dynamite" and (2) we knew that the pug would soon become the "emperor" of our household...! ;o) And yes, the name DEFINATLY fits him. He completely thinks he owns the house.

Maggie May was named after the Rod Stewert song, Mr Jiggs was named by his previous owner and Bugsy Malone was named by my oldest daughter after we rescued him from the ASPCA

Rosie, our black pug, was named for the way she eats. She circles the bowl like she's playing "ring around the rosie". The family named her and let me know about it after ther fact. I named our fawn pug Teddie because her big brother from an earlier litter was named Bear. I was expecting a boy dog but my wife picked the female 2 hours after she was born so we changed the name to the feminine form of Teddie. BTW, my daughter has both Bear and the mom (Sophie) as her dogs.

Weezer fits my pugs personality like no other. Just like the band!

Our pugs are:
Roswell - the alien dog...of course.
Orion - we stuck with the astral theme. We tried other names but he liked this one and chose to respond to it.
Joy - Joy was born at christmas time and is named after the Starbucks (where I worked at the time) tea of the same name. It's a blend of green and black teas which I thought appropriate because of the pug's origin and her darker coat. Humorously she likes to eat greens too.
SETI - again with the space theme, SETI is the acronym for the NASA program, Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence. Again, humourously, SETI is quite the little watchdog and early warning system.
JinDui - Jin Dui is a fried, sticky rice cake ball covered in sesame seeds and filled with brown sugar. Dui was always round since the day he was born and a warm, toasty fawn color. Incidently he also sticks to me like glue and has a gooey, sweet little heart. (^_^) John also says he's a bit "crusty."
Dozer - snores louder than his size. My husband says he not a bulldozer however, he's a "freak-dozer!" I know, we're crazy.
Kaijuu - is japanese for "freaky monster." Godzilla is a "kaijuu." Like Godzilla, our little kaijuu likes to "roar" when he gets excited. It sounds like a smashed together howl and yawn if that makes any sense...
And that's our lovely little snortle of pugs! Yea!

Great stories behind each of your pug names. They all sound original but Kaijuu is simply awesome. You have a brilliant gang of pugs there!

Thank you! So nice of you to say! Kaijuu is definitely a hit among our Japanese friends.

People are going to think I am mean, but I named my pug, Vito, after this guy from MTV, who is nicknamed Don Vito

(the one on the left, its the crazy eyes thing that reminded me of a pug, of course pugs are wayyy cuter!)

The funniest thing was my dads response to my pugs name. He said "what is he, italian?"
hahaha

Yeah, I know the guy. It's funny, as Vito rather sounds like a pug name more than a human name. And you're sure right about the crazy eyes thing.

About 5 years ago I visited a little doggie boutique in Skaneateles NY and I decided then and there I wanted a small dog, but I wanted something that would be fun and energetic, not so much a lap dog....I went online and did a little research and fell inlove with the pug breed; but I wanted a black female. I would sit and think about having a little pug puppy and what I would call her. I wanted something feminie and cute, and I came up with the name Lila. For years I held off and held off, until recently I decided to finally do something for me. I thought about what I wanted to do for myself and I decided that I wanted to finally get my puggie. I found a breeder in Fulton and went to visit her and her litter and I noticed this little black pug that was running circles around her living room, just having a good time. I picked her up and she licked my face all over; I had found my Lila. I've had Lila for about 10 weeks when I was looking in the paper and talking to other breeders about having more than one; I found little Daisy through a breeder in Weedsport and fell in adoration of her immediately. She is only 6 weeks old and loves to cuddle. Daisies are my favorite flower and I thought Lila & Daisy go together really well. I'm madly and completely inlove with my babies; nothing is too good for them.
