So one of my darling boys likes to eat pooh. Have had him about a year and do not know what to do about it. I have read some on the issue and there are many theories but little practical advise on how to break the dear soul form this most displeasing habit. Anyone have any advice or actual experience/success in breaking dog of this pattern? Help!!!
You can get a product called forbid from your vet, and possibly your local feed store. I have also heard that feeding them pineapple will help too. Mine never ate their own poop, but had quite a thing for kitty roca that they eventually grew out of. Good luck with this.
I just have to reply - cause I'm laughing my bum off at my desk '"Kitty Roca"! LOL! OH MY! I always like to see others that refer to those lovely litter box treats! Thanks for the chuckle! Happy Holidays!
I think you need to look at his food first. The eating poop habit usually starts because of a lack of something in the diet. I think that your pug may need more protein, or perhaps better quality protein in his food. Also as an alternative, you can consider the food additives that will make the poop less tasty. On what's regarding additives, check with your vet before giving it to your pug, as to be sure that the additives are safe.
Thank you every one for your help. I m going with the "forbid" product. I am not changing to a high protiene diet due to his age and possible liver problems. I'll let ou know if the product works or not. Have great holiday. John, Lucky and Chewy
